The truth about the health system,for those that have the game

Is it really like people claim it to be?
Do you really die when you get shot just 4 times?
Or are people just exaggerating to find something about the game to criticize?
I mean I have only see people run around with only normal health,no armor,so maybe their just used to playing gta iv with armor?
Anyways I want people that have the game to shine some light on this matter
Alsoooo,you see that the armor bar is smaller than the health bar,does that mean it's 50% the protection it gives you,or the bar itself shrinks less than the green one when you take damage?

The armor in the game ranges from super light body armor to super heavy body armor. They are five different kinds of body armor you can purchase for each character.

There is regen health and that only fills up 50%
