Don't get me wrong Im absolutely loving GTA V but I think people hyped this game so much that it has put so much pressure on rockstar to deliver and one slight problem with the game has people extremely angry?

Sadly a lot of people seem to have put their expectations way up there in the clouds.

Then if there's one or two little things they don't like about it, they just fly off the handle.

i definitely overhyped it.... my expectations were so high, thinking this would be the game of games. i havent played it, but from the hours upon hours of gameplay ive watched, i dont think its going to live up to my expectations. thats not to say its bad, just that i put the bar too high

I expected this to be the greatest GTA game ever. Only watched short gameplay clips so far, but seen nothing to dispell this hope.

It wont be perfect, its on 7 year old hardware here people, but it will be as perfect as anything created on this gen.

Still hyped, cant freaking wait for Tuesday and plan to play the sh*t out of this game well into 2014.

How can we say this, "most" of us haven't even played the game and "all" of us haven't even played online. Lets decide this after Oct 1st instead of acting like ungratefull kids.

I think GTA V has been overhyped. Rockstar has not attempted to roll back some of the hype either. But, in fairness to them, they never said they were going to give us a decent number of interiors. They seem to have accurately described the game for the most part.

Gnocchi Flip Flops

Every game is overhyped unless the developers are stingy on the info being put out. My hype lowered after seeing the gameplay and that is a good thing because when I play the game I'm sure I'll be overwhelmed.

I swear some people on here are so dramatic. Most of us havent even played it yet & some are already labeling it a disappointment. It's your own fault if you set your expectation bar at a ridiculous height. At least wait until you play the game, including online to make your judgement.

I think many of the shortcomings GTA V seems to have and that people are disappointed about result not from unrealistic expectations but from Rockstar's seeming unwillingness to do certain things that wouldn't really require more work or resources.

I think that was all Rockstar's fault to be honest. First of all they started teasing us with this game WAY too early, all the way back in 2011, just so they could sell some more copies of Max Payne. Not only that, but they delayed the game once internally and again from spring to fall. That kept a lot of people waiting and building anticipation.

And on top of that, they did that thing where they released very little information about the game. They were so secretive about everything that people built up these expectations of what the game would be. They drove up the hype by mishandling the development and advertising process.

From what I've seen i'd agree that it has been overhyped. That's not to say I think it's a bad game, Of course it isn't. I think with it being so long in the making and all the publicity it's had I think our own expectations have gotten higher and higher as the time passes. Generally speaking I think it's great, Lack of interiors is the only thing to let it down for me so far.

They could have used some of those extra months to add a few interiors. I don't think Rockstar understands that we just want to be able to go in many buildings, not all of which have to feature tremendous detail. Furthermore, we want some interiors that aren't necessarily part of the gameplay. The problem is that they seem to restrict interiors to what is part of the game (robberies, purchases, etc.) without realizing that we want interiors for interiors sake. In Just Cause 2, the lack of interiors was so absolute it was absurd but at least here there are some interiors.

R* didn't mishandle the advertising IMO. They did it perfectly. They released the first trailer to spike the hype, then starved everybody of information. By the time the 2nd trailer came out we were all salivating at the mouth like hungry dogs. Then they gradually released info as the release neared. They're geniuses & the sales will show it.

This thread is about the game being overhyped.. don't you think what you just said proved my point? They DID indeed mishandle it by overhyping the game. Sure, sales will show it, but from our perspective, it could've been done better. They didn't have to "starve" us of information like "hungry dogs" as you said. That just shows how badly they handled everything.

i think this game will be the best, the reason it looks crap is cause your not playing and if you dont enjoy it you clearly take video games too serious and cant just enjoy it for what it is. I caaaant wait i think from what ive seen its going to be epic...

It is overhyped. I never disagreed with you there. They didn't have to starve us, but they're Rockstar, and they do what they want. By doing that however, they boosted their sales as the anticipation factor went through the roof. The only problem they created is that some people believed the game will be perfect in every way. Then when they find a few minor things that they don't like they blame Rockstar. Like I said before, it's your own fault if you had unrealistic expectations for the game. But they didn't mishandle anything, because those people complaining WILL buy the game and WILL play it for hours on end. And in R*'s eyes that is a success.

Part of that fault lies with Rockstar and how little they preview stuff. They're hush hush for so long and then when they do release some promotion, it's so slicked over with very little actual gameplay that it's hard to not believe the hype.

Overhyping or not, you are going to be able to tell this is a solid game. My advice is to take it for what it is and then decide for yourself.

Most games only show 1 trailer before releasing a game and how many did we get from Rockstar? 1 announcment trailer, 1 promotion trailer, 1 trailer about character introduction, 1 gameplay trailer, 1 online gameplay multiplayer, and an official trailer. That's 6 already! I bet there's also a launch trailer this time. If anything we've been spoiled.

Meanwhile I only have an announcement 1:35 trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3, I'd only be lucky to see another one before it's expected late PS4 2014/ early 2015 launch. There was no news whatsover for that 3rd installment since the last game in 2006! Almost a decade in the dark!

Yet they really didn't answer enough specifics. In the last few days, since the game has leaked, this board has been full of questions.

Can we do this...can we do that. How does this work...how does that work. A game like this is so incredibly detailed and has such a huuuuge following, it needed more specifics. and Im not just talking about the last month but over the last few months while Rockstar was so quiet. Instead people were left to guess for months on end. Therefore unnecessary hype grows in the place of little details.

I kind of predicted something similar a while ago. Some people had their expectations incredibly high and I am not surprised that some are disappointed. Like there was a topic about someone creating a GTA V animal documentary, a person who wanted to be a paparazzi and stalk celebrities (not sure if you can do this but seems a bit far-fetched), etc. People made it out to be like a life simulator.
