They would essentially have to steal it from work, and believe me.. it would be found.

 

They have stock and inventory of the games they receive, and in order for someone to legally take it, it has to be counted as sold, and checked through their system, which can't be done properly or legally until the actual release date.

 

So you either go against the system and sell yourself a copy early, in which case you get fired like an idiot..

 

Or you take one of the copies without ringing it through, have the stock count being short, and get fired like an idiot when that gets looked into.

Sure but also don't forget the scenario where staff member has pre-ordered and paid, then allowed to take it home to play so long as they don't do whatever to get caught, then it just gets rung through the till on release date. You really think all the gameshops that have had it in stock all abided by the written law?

Managers like that don't tend to stay working anywhere for very long.

 

A lot of the Gamestops in my area have managers, and area managers that take all that stuff seriously (As think everyone with a job should do). I don't blame them, it falls back pretty hard on the company.

 

I'm sure there are people exploiting the system, but obviously it's not allowed. All it takes is one manager/employee who cares about their job to be working on a certain day, going into the back and noticing an open box with stock missing, and a quick report of the situation, and your time employed there is over.
