After being on these forums for more than 4 years, and in the era of IV having some really productive and constructive conversation with the players who were going to pre-order IV, I've realized that about 95% of the players on these forums who are pre-ordering V are a bunch of immature little kids who can't even manage to put together a basic sentence, let alone get across a good point on a thread.

 

And this massive amount of ignorance and trolling going on in the V forums has convinced me to write down the names of these trolls and hopefully find all of them in V eventually. Not to mention whenever i hear a little child over the microphone I'll be quick to deter them from playing this game anymore.

 

Basically, I'm sick and tired of watching people on these forums try to insult other people by using stupid gifs and images that are clearly from the mind of a child, with complete impunity (since it's merely a forum), and they also help cause confusion by stating things about the game that are completely false. However once GTAO is finally out, I can finally do something about the little kid who is rambling his mouth far too much for his own good, I can actually kill his character, take all the money he has on him, and then even come after him 100 more times till he finally quits the session, and not only will that help my accuracy in V in adjusting to the new aiming mechanics (if there are any new ones from IV), but it will also insure a more enjoyable and friendly environment for the mature player who bought V with their own money, and not their parent's . It's a win win in my opinion.

Well actually being "mature" has pretty much everything to do with age, which is why the ESRB has things like ratings for games that shouldn't be played by kids whose brains are still undergoing development, and yet so many parents buy games like this for kids that are 11 sometimes. If they were 16 or even 15 i might get it a little, but 11 and 12 is just far too young for Grand Theft Auto, but all of this is besides the point, My goal is to be an extra reinforcement for the ESRB by gunning those kids out of the game

I remember when the ESRB rating was just a suggestion. Good times.

 

By the time stores were no longer allowed to sell M+ games to people under 18, I was already 15 (probably wrong.. I have a really bad concept of time) I'm 20 now, and have been playing games (even violent ones) as far back as I can recall. I remember me and my dad sitting down to watch Starship Troopers when I was just 6 or 7 years old. (to me at the time that was a big deal)

 

I remember being able to go into a store with my friend who was looking for ps2 games, and N64 games, and him walking out with Leisure Suit Larry, the Playboy game, and Conker's bad Fur day. Good times.

 

I won't completely disagree that maturity has to do with age, but I have to disagree that maturity is only based on age. I've played and watched a lot of violent (as well as drug/sexbased) videogames and movies since as far back as I can remember, and I don't believe it has had any sort of effect on my development or maturity in any negative way. Even at the time I was aware that what I am playing or watching is a video game or movie intended for fun, and nothing more. On the other hand... it could just be the way I was raised. Parent's raising me to be responsible, mature, respectable/respectful.

 

I've always held onto the personal idea that even adults can be way too immature for some games, not just people under the age of 18+ playing M rated games.

 

None of what I'm saying probably even applies to today anymore though sadly... I'm often disgusted with what I see in children and parents as I go about my business daily, and I'm only 20.. I'm sure I don't need to provide examples, as we all know how a lot of kids are babysat by their consoles these days while their parents pay their cellphone bills, their xboxlive subscriptions, etc...

 

My main point is... Even when it wasn't such a bad thing to sell an 18+ game to anyone under 18, even if that were the case today, Parents should at least still take it upon themselves to educate themselves on what it is they are just handing their child, and make sure this is something their child should be playing. I'm sick of hearing of neglectful parents blaming the videogame they bought their child as being the reason their child is having issues, I'm sure there are many underlying issues to address much more significant than the games they play at that point.

Well yeah i agree with that completely, because the only reason there's this ESRB enforcement for young kids is because of the higher chance that they will take the game completely out of context and go exercising what they are seeing on the screen in real life, hell, i even recall a recent news story where a kid killed his grandmother who was baby sitting him because a few minutes before he was immersed in GTA IV, and i honestly do believe that seeing the actions of those characters influenced his strange idea to just try it in real life.

 

Brains are a very weird and not really understandable thing even in the 21st century, at least how they operate in literally every single person on earth, because pretty much each person has a different way of thinking (in one way or another) and some of those ways can turn out to be violent or deadly. But again, I agree that it all comes down to parents and their handling of the game, and if they talk to their kid and make sure he/she understands it's all virtual reality and made to entertain, then props to them, but often that's just not the case anymore.
