Increase player limit in GTA Online

I think the idea for GTA online is probably the best thing about this game, and its what will keep me hooked on the game for years to come. The only problem I have with it is the tiny player limit.

 

I mean, think of games like COD or any generic shooter, most have an average player limit of 16 and on some of the larger maps they feel empty. A 16 player limit on the competitive modes (race, TDM, etc.) is one thing, since those will most likely be confined to a smaller space, but when it comes to the free roam aspect with different crews and all that I think rock star made a mistake at capping the limit at 16.

 

Even 22-24 players would be okay, and at the max 32. There are many other games on these consoles that support up to 32, even 64 (resistance series) or 256 (MAG) so I don't see why adding another 8 players or even doubling the amount would be too hard, especially since the map is so huge and it would allow for a lot more dynamics when it comes to crews. Instead of just 2 or 3 crews represented per lobby, we'd have room for 5 or 6 crews per lobby, along with room for some players to lone wolf, roleplay and possibly even act on the other side of the law (if that feature is in) and it wouldn't feel as if you had to all congregate in one tiny spot on the map just to see some action with other players, thereby defeating the purpose of free roam and wasting the whole map.

They would if they could I bet, but we non developers don't know they build the game and all the technical stuff. Also side note : mag was a full online game with good dedicated servers and it had its problems but it proved even in this gen, 256 was possible.

Not happening. Do you really think they didn't try to get it higher than 16? Hell, I almost never see 16 player lobbies in IV. Only chance for more than 16 players is next-gen and/or pc.

Same thing that happened with IV will probably happen with V: Console versions are capped at 16 players, PC is capped at 32. It's not happening with the current 8 year old hardware, wait for PC/next gen.

All you dumbasses saying the hardware is too old explain how games 4-5 years ago were able to handle 4 time and even 16 times the limit? I think Rockstar figure that since they made this amazing online feature they could cap it at the standard 16 players and call it a day, I don't think they bothered even trying to increase the player limit.

We're those games 4-5 years ago we're running on a persistent world server, filled with AI, and graphics that push the consoles to its limits ?

That doesn't make a difference. Adding 8-16 more players isn't pushing technological limits or breaking new ground, its only doubling whats already there which is entirely possible. Don't tell me 16 players runs smooth as butter but 24 unleashes the 9th circle of hell from servers. That's ridiculous.
