In several streams, i've a flash occur sometimes, when the player kills someone. But sometimes, i can clearly see someone being killed and the flash doesn't happen...

Can anyone clarify what this flash means, and in what situations does it occur?

That would make sense... with Michael. But the effect also happens with Franklin, and his meter only goes up when driving fast or on opposing lanes, etc..

I kinda find it distracting.

Makes it look like you are taking damage/dying. Will there be an option to turn it off?

Ive been watching all the leaked videos. It appers when you kill a target, the screen goes black and white for a split second. No matter what character your using to confirm a kill

I'm only asking because i'm pretty sure i've seen players killing people without triggering the effect.

(And the "aiming dot" turning into a red "x", is already there to confirm that the target is dead)

i have a vid of a guy going through each settings page and there's nothing in there about it, there's actually no "gameplay" settings page, just audio, display, controls, notifications, saving, and facebook.

It isn't something that bothers me alot (just a little, besides thinking that is unnecessary), but i wish we could turn it off.

I would assume it marks a small incremental increase in shooting skill rather than the special meter, since it is irregular and happens on characters whose special skills are driving/melee based....

The X i have no problem with. It's so small and it's actually useful.

What's so useful about it though, if you're paying attention you should be able to tell if an enemy is dead. Also from the gameplay I've seen is the X is alot bigger than the aiming dot.

Sometimes it may be useful. It may help you save some ammunition, in cases where you would just keep shooting (if the target hasn't fallen down, for example), just to make sure the target is actually dead.

Have you played RDR or Max Payne 3 ? They also have this. If you played it and never realized it, then it won't be a problem on V

Really? I have finished RDR and the Undead Nightmare expansion and i've played the multiplayer extensively... and i've never noticed it! If that is true, then it's good news! (or maybe bad news, because it means my memory sucks?)

EDIT: I went ahead and saw some videos of RDR, and while the effect is there on headshots, it's much less noticeable, to the point where sometimes you don't even see it.

As far as I can see it's just to indicate that YOU killed them. In missions with multiple characters, I don't think the flash is seen when someone else nails a target. If you kill them, or inflict the wound that kills them, it flashes.

I THINK.

Signatures are dumb anyway.
