DrAnomalous
Actually you couldn't really drift in GTA because, as good as the physics were, they weren't completely realistic. It allowed for a somewhat realistic loss of traction and weight transfer allowing you to slide the car. That's different from drifting though. Games such as Need For Speed and Saints Row may have drifting but it's canned in those games, like a special move, rather than a result of any physics. I suspect that to really achieve physics realistic enough to allow drifting, that isn't canned like in those games, you'd need fairly comprehensive vehicle physics such as in Forza or Gran Turismo. I've never been a big fan of the canned drifting seen in so many arcade racers these days. I think it's lazy and tacky and I can't see Rockstar going down that road. My guess is that they've improved the physics to allow for power oversteer. In my opinion GTA has always been more in the realism camp than the arcade camp in this regard. I think that there were a few cars in GTA IV that did a pretty respectable job of drifting Feltzer, Coquette, Dukes and Banshee. I think I'm missing at least two more. Cobra427Cobra427
Yes, of course physics gta4 is not ideal from the point of view of the simulator. It was impossible to drifting, lack of wheel spin during acceleration, suspension and etc.. GTA 4 but it was enough. Physics gta4 not imitate reality, but was approximately similar to the reality. The main thing you need in the GTA - realistic inertia and weight of the car to crash looked spectacular and realistic, the car somersaulted 10 times through the roof. Or a car crashing into another car and cars fly away in different directions. And in the video with the R8 we see what that muffled poking A is not an accident Here is how I would like to see in GTA In the GTA I was not very interested in the story and the characters, and even shootings are not as interesting as driving, the greatest amount of time in the GTA, I spend, riding in vehicles, arranging accidents, car chases and traveling around the map, and as I love the multiplayer. If there is not a decent physics, my enjoyment of GTA5 will be 70% lower, and I will not be playing it for years The physics are beautiful and all...... but this isn't Gran Turismo or Forza (which are legit simulators and are nowhere near this this detailed). This type of simulation fits games that are built around that.... simulation Having this would be just as bad as having no damage in GTA. Sure the wrecks would be absolutely biblical but 95% of GTA players aren't driving gods. Hitting a curb or slightly clipping into the SUV at 100+ mph and essentially oneshotting yourself in a cataclysm of carnage isn't the best idea from a gameplay standpoint ....unless you want to accidently die 25 times within the span of an hour ---------------------------------------------------------- Yes - it would be difficult for the gameplay, and I understand that not everyone will like it. But I would have wanted me to, GTA5 after 100% passing game and as a bonus, get offline mode "hardcore driving physics," and I could turn it on when I want to. And in multiplayer would be shared arcade physics such as OOOOOOH SOFT BODY PHYSICS A REVOLUUUUUUUTION IN GAMIIIING yes, and it does not require large computational resources, Rockstar simply not interested in the technology, it's sad CPU: P4 or equivalent AMD at 2GHz or more, better with HyperThreading technology or dual-core (RoR has dual-core support)RAM:512 MB of RAM Video Card: 3D Accelerated with 128MB of VRAM or more DirectX 9c on Windows, or GLX on Linux supports force feedback joysticks and wheels (except on Linux) supports 3D sound effects with multichannel sound cards (enable the hardware sound renderer) GTA5 should have to do technology-based game Rigs of Rods-it's soft body deformation of cars, realistic physics of the car (simulator), realistic off-roading, etc.
brian.
you could drift some of the cars very well. some parts of the map were very friendly, mainly the airport for the top example, but some of the ramps for the highway etc. You could also mod the PC version's handling with people's "drift mods" and drift everywhere.Stock though, many places were just too organic and as such little bumps messed up drifting, but you could still do it. Cobra427Cobra427
full drifting in gta4 was impossible, because of all the cars work, non shut-off traction control I looked 11 minute recording Stream gameplay, where Franklin drives a car through the countryside and runs away from the police. And I have no doubt that it's physics and damage to GTA SA, and that the final decision. There is little hope that if driving is Michael and Trevor, the physics will be different, but I do not believe it. Damage to the vehicle will not be better, for sure. Damage worse than gta4, why?!! archiebunker
Never realized there were so many video game car crash porn aficionados. Do any of you guys ever call certain 976 hotlines to hear more about "arranging accidents," "degrees of deformations," and "soft body physics"? I have an idea. Let's take some aspect of the GTA simulation you enjoy that could be considered threatening to NPC lives inside like the euphoria physics simulation that creates a tremendously REALISTIC behavioral simulation of human bodies response to collision or traumatic impact and call your support for that fetishistic. Or how about just the general freedom to shoot or kill anybody in the game world, particularly law enforcement, and classify you as a sexual deviant. When Euphoria was introduced in 4 it generated tremendous immersion and is so much better than the absurd Ragdoll that gamers were subjected to at the turn of the century. I am rather tired of destroying vehicles in EVERY game world and watchign them go from brightly textured to black textured accompanied by mild modification of the body of the vehicle. It is an absurd contrivance that we have had to endure because of technological limitations. If you believe wanting increased immersion is the equivalent of a sexual fetish, if you believe the textured to teh burned out husk binary trick is some sacred tradition you have take your psychoanalysis too far. Wanting more immersion doesn't = boners. Lighten up, Francis.
Gnocchi Flip Flops
Albeit slowly, I'm beginning to care less about how arcade the driving mechanics seem. After seeing the vehicle leaks my hype has shot through the roof. Most of my driving is spent cruising and surely the physics won't feel to bad then, am I right? SammyXNA
I like the handling so far, it feels great and responsive. Njale
From what i saw the handling looks too simplified when you compare it to GTA IV also i don't like how the camera sticks to your vehicle. Also i don't like that you can control the direction of your car while it's flying trough the air. At all. I like the handling in the gameplay videos I've seen so far. In IV it was not realistic.. if anything then it was "über realistic". Or do cars actually drive like boats on streets? How about you guys drive a car in reallife? If you did how can you say that it's realistic? Sure in V it may not be realistic either but more arcade like.. however it looks just fine by me. So, and that's my opinion. Sorry that you are ruining yourself with all that nitpicking. Maybe play it for yourself, get used to it and then you may complain..? Billy the kid
The car handling does look awful. I suppose that is thanks to the youngsters that isnt aware of that there were a brake button to use in the corners and after all they are not even old enough to play this game. Cobra427Cobra427
Physics gta4 was a bold step against the pop and standards, I respect gta4 for it. And I thought that GTA5 will be developed further, journalists chorus wrote that "physics of cars has become a very realistic" and I seriously expects that in GTA5 will be added sequential manual gearbox. But the reality was such that journalists lied, and physics GTA5 was setback from to the San Andreas physics. I'm sure if I should buy the game, GTA5 thrown out, driving, as part of the fun and I hate GTA5...

RuiRuichi
Well I am going to miss skating Liberty City. I didn't give a f*ck when I first played it. It was fun, drifting on every corner on my way lol. Saw no reason to whine and I could adjust and that I did. Anyways I have been watching this live stream now from Magic Mike and car damage physics is more or less the same. To me the handling looks fine, solid traction O_o At least its better than car physics and handling in GTA III. Jesus, I'm playing it on my android on my spare time in class and I can not go from one point to another without flipping the car upside down and have it explode. We should remember that there's a driving skill level for each character and it's only Franklin I'm seeing in the leaks, this guy is the best among the three. Hey maybe Michael would be driving it boat like lol.
Gantons Most Wanted
Good the driving in IV was a pain in the ass IMO. To each there own though it woudn't pay to have the same opinion but if it is like MCLA's over IV that is a vast improvement because lets face it if the driving isn't fluid and fun in a title like this it takes away from the experience. Plus in terms of IV's handling there is always the option to mod the game come the time its not like it would be impossible to do in order to satisfy those who did enjoy IV's handling. gta5freemode4eva
Yes this is my impression of GTAV from watching the leaked footage - All they had to do was give us the new content BUT KEEP GTA 4'S HANDLING AND PHYSICS and this game would have been SUPERB, EXCELLENT, FREAKIN AWESOME, BEST GAME EVER, 10/10 - seriously, it was set to be stupidly brilliant, probably the best game of all time hands down... *sighs* but it looks like we've got this saints row sh*t instead What a disappointment. No gravity just some stupid floaty sh*t. Cars that don't need brakes to turn corners. No PROPER weight shifting. A MASSIVE truck that looked like it weighed the same as a Faggio, hardly any damage... WHAT THE f*ck HAVE THEY DONE!!!!!!????? I would've happily paid for a subscription for GTAO and I would've played it for years and years. If the handling and physics stay like they seem to be... f*ck GTAO - what a shame...... Patch this sh*t R* ... how the hell can you believe that the physics and handling are an improvement ... IT LOOKS TERRIBLE!!!!! Oh well... if any of you want to race with me using BRILLIANT physics and handling then I'll see you in Liberty City on IV. Never thought they'd f*ck up the most important and best selling feature of the game!!!!!! Unless this is all a joke... please tell me this isn't the actual game... it cant be, they can't of f*cked it up this badly could they? COULD THEY?? FOR f*ck SAKE... I think there will be a lot of 2nd hand copies if they don't patch this sh*t. Sod queuing for midnight release now, i'll grab my copy of Grand Theft Saints Rauto V some other time, I'll complete it then trade it for a game with better physics and handling like Barbies Race Adventures. ?!=+_-
I'll try and sell my collector edition now, it might be too late to cancel and stop payment from DL on pen as well. No chance I'm buying any game with sh*t arcadey physics that don't need brakes to turn round corners. This is based on what I read that's why I need to see car gameplay. At the end of the day a sandbox can have it all but if the main Thing which in gtAuto is the cars don't feel right then I ain't interested. Gnocchi Flip Flops
If you hated IV's driving after getting used to it, fine. But if you never attempted to improve your driving skills in IV then you were lazy and didn't know how to drive. Maybe playing the game myself, not as Franklin, the handling might be better. From the looks of it the handling looks personality-less, unrealistic, MCLA Style, and WAAAY too responsive to be fun. It looks easy like NFS and thay is my problem. I want challenge. I don't want to f*cking drift at 120 mph, I don't want my tires to spin everytime I take off. I don't want every super car to be easy to drive because that wouldn't be realistic. Some supercars are hard as f*ck. Some cheap ass cars are easier and funner to drive than some supercars. I've calmed down from my last post but I am still a bit disappointed. I hope it feels better driving, especially as someone without a high driving skill. But so far the handling looks like MCLA and if that is the case then V will be sitting on my shelves for a long time within a month. So what sid I want? IV's okay but not too realistic handling with a better sense of speed, better grip on certain car, and more challenge. But, oh well... There is always something annoying in every video game that can dampen the experience I guess. JRZ

Meno
Almost every GTA player knows the handling for the old GTA IV. Alot of people say they hate it, such, and for me personally! I want it back, mainly because it's more realistic, better at drifting. Better for drifting? Are you kidding me? SERIOUSLY lmao. Only gta so far you can drift AT ALL in so far without customiziong handling lines is SA. You are definitely one of those Ken Block fankids that dont know what drifting is and burn rubber on a corner with dukes and claims to be a drifter. I might still hate them when I play the game, I don't know, we'll have to wait and see.
