DMC14
Victorian Prisoner Transport (?) Dog Squad. if anything like NSW. 400kw NSW Highway Patrol car. was off the road for a while cause one of the officers put E10 in it and blew the engine. Apparently this car now has over 800kw and was tuned by dick Johnson. The following are all NSW police cars if not currently then at one time or another. Straypuft
I might have a chance to buy one of these this weekend: Seller wants $100 for it, dont know if it works, but from the looks of things, parts are easy to find over the ebays and interwebs At $100, I assume its from the early-mid 90's. That'd be a nice way to stand out from the norm They certainly look odd in central Hong Kong, I must admit! Definitely out of place outside of a European setting. Although the ever-sinking Ford and Holden vehicle market has resulted in Australian police looking at using European cars as an eventual replacement. http://www.motoring.com.au/news/2015/volvo/s60/police-testing-polestar-tuned-volvo-48851 Cheers! SouthLand
It's funny that in the US / Canada / Mexico you guys use vehicles that are BEASTS that would probably not even come close to be able to fit on many European streets. SouthLand
Well some european countries have decades of experience with APCs and riot vehicles. You want a good vehicle, go european. I know. In my country, the government does not have the balls to use them. When riots occur you only see a lot of police Mercedes Sprinters from the Anti-Riot police squad. Even in one of the worst riots in my country that i can remember, APC were not dispatched: HOWEVER. Spain has one of the most violent ANti-Riot police in Europe. When they charge they hit everybody on their way, they shoot rubber bullets directly to people instead of aiming to the ground... DerangedCrackhead
I know. In my country, the government does not have the balls to use them. When riots occur you only see a lot of police Mercedes Sprinters from the Anti-Riot police squad. Actually, few years ago, for the eviction of the gaztetxe (squatted building) of Kukutza in Bilbao, Ertzaintza deployed the Humvee and few of those armored trucks. They did it too on several occasions back in the 1980s. Thyssen Henschel UR-416. They were used by the Policía Nacional, more often in the Basque Country and Navarra, the more conflictive regions. They deployed them too during the Battle of Euskalduna in Bilbao in 1984, between workers of the Euskalduna shipyard and police. Note the former beige paint job of the Policía Nacional. And again in Hernani, sources cited something about a funeral but I couldn't find the actual background. Hit by a RPG grenade in Pamplona in 1982. An officer killed and another six wounded. The Guardia Civil, on the other side, used the Pegaso BLR 3545. Just like the UR-416, aside from puntual situations, the BLR 3545 was used by the Grupo Antiterrorista Rural of the Guardia Civil in the Basque Country and Navarra. The next footage dates back to 1983 and shows the Grupo Antiterrorista Rural setting up a road checkpoint somewhere in the Basque Country. Heard some first-hand stories about the checkpoints back in the 1970s. You had to be careful with what you did; the atmosphere was tense and sh*t could go down real quick. (at 0:22) The following one, deployed during some incidents related to the death of a ETA member in a shooting with police, in 1988. Another time they were seen was during the 1987 clashes in Reinosa, in relation with the closing of the main factory of the town. Poor bastards got disarmed and kicked out off the town by local people in their first attempt to enter the town; for their second attempt they brought the armoreds with them. Below, another picture of the Grupo Antiterrorista Rural. The first truck is a Santana 88 Ligero, followed by a Pegaso 3545 BLR and last a Santana 2000 truck. The Santana 2000 can be seen in the next pictures, whose source I couldn't find but seems like another checkpoint. And deployed again in 1984 during the demonstrations against the construction of the Lemoniz nuclear power plant in the Basque Country, which can was never completed.
