iNero
whats actually bad about this is that the countryside has so few activities and even less variety in them most them are base jumps whats the point of such a huge map when its empty as f*ck. If there is nothing more Ill go to these places once and then stay in Los Santos cause there is nothing worth to go Edited September 10, 2013 by iNero
Hazencoke
Let these niggas tell it, the city is twice the size of LC.. They gonna superimpose a picture of Vice city over the map and be like "LOOK.. SCALE~!!... THE CITY IS REALLY BIG.. SCALE" I'm thoroughly convinced half these niggas don't understand what it is. Regardless though, the city'll be enough for me I think. you're tryingn so hard to look cool saying nigga brah you won't get props for talking ghetto on a gaming forum
SUPAH JD
Red Dead Redemption was primarly country side. For good reason of course, but still. Did you have an issue with that as well? It'll be fine. That's like me saying that in NBA 2k you never actually leave the basketball court.. RDR is a different game entirely, in terms of themes and otherwise. It's really not. RDR is a sandbox game, with the same elements of R*. Grand Theft Pony for the most part. The game sold well, with mostly the same fans of the GTA series, and the map still was nice enough for people to stay enjoyed with it. More-so, the point proves the country side can be enjoyable. That being said, I can somewhat agree the city is a bit.. small. I won't say that technically speaking there are elements of GTA V in... No, wait..- Thee are elements of RDR in V, but they're not the same kind of game. GTA since it's inception has largely revolved around satirical life in a large American city which is why the setting matters so much. Both 'Red Dead' titles have in essence, been about "The countryside". There's very little urban influence in the universe of Red Dead, it's almost shunned, like the people from Blackwater. I'm dissapointed that R* made the city so small relative to the rest of the map.. Guess we'll have to rely on depth and detail. I wasn't trying to say "It justifies the small city." because I agree with that. My point was, a map can have tons of country side, but still prove to be very entertaining. Regardless of the fact that they are two seperate titles, with two different timezones. However, RDR still had massive country, but it all ended up well anyway. It was still pretty entertaining. black_benz
I agree with the OP. I think the city is too small. I mean, the Los Santos Airport looks to be almost as big as all of SOUTH LOS SANTOS. That's kind of ridiculous. Exactly. The airport accounts for a huge percentage of the "city". Take that away and it's even more blaring how small Los Santos is...

SUPAH JD
As for the airport? It's about the same size as LC's airport. You cut them off, it doesn't make THAT much of a difference. Plus, the city is about the same size as LC as a whole. If you're an urban person, stay in the city for the majority of the game. I know I'll be doing that most likely. If you want to enjoy the country side here and there, or just go crazy out there? Well, then go into the country. Nothing is stopping ya. The game will be fine. RX2000
There’s no way it’ll get boring to me. My favorite part of RDR is just staying out in the wilderness for hours hunting. I cant wait to do the same thing with Trevor. I just hope we can get money for selling pelts/meat.
Quirx
I don't get it. Maybe a lot of these people never have played RDR before. Forget the fact that it's a different time and theme than any GTA game. The countryside is absolutely full of life in that game. There's always something going on. A ton of wildlife, ambient sights and sounds, people passing by. I can't forget one of my favorite parts about the game, the random encounters with strange people. Some of them were creepy or just served to add to the life of the game. Now take a similar situation in the present day. We get all of that, among the other new activities listed on the map, and it's set right up against a major city with its own atmosphere. Having the contrast between countryside and city will be awesome. It's an environment that started with San Andreas and they're adding a ton to it. This game is going to be beautiful and groundbreaking. No doubt in my mind.
killahmatic
The city is massive, just is a small fraction of the full map. Just someone complaining to complain. I have a feeling if the map looked like this the OP would be satisfied just because the appearance of the city is taking up most of the map, even though the map itself was half gone. ryuclan
If anybody remembers a little game called GTA San Andreas the airports then were huge too. All the airports are about half the size of the cities they're in.

LotusRIP
Have you not seen ANY of the trailers yet? The countryside is completely littered with sh*t everywhere... the map looks a little baron because it's just shaded green but if you look at the screenshots and trailer you'll see there is no dead space at all. I was actually hoping for more empty countryside space...
Tashan
This time we have both to love and explore Don't get fooled by the big green patch as it still not clear what lies beneath and around them. Oh! and I almost forgot about how massive is the water stretch circling the area in the map. This is something so cool!

ABCDOGGY ginette
Why are people acting like hunting in a game is like hunting in real life? Did you ever hunted in RDR? You can just take whatever gun/pistol you want then shoot shoot shoot kill 10 animals/birds in 1 minute bam you're a hunting veteran. This ain't Cabrera's hunting game. Romel3
You guys are sounding like f*ckin hillbillys wanting to hunt nd sh*t. Seriously tho, I was hoping for a larger city area and this is a little dissappointing, like literally 60% of the map is grassland, mountains and other sh*t, hunting is not the reason I want to buy the game. And if most of you f*ckboys wanna hunt so bad in a videogame pick up a Cabela game or something. And plus, in most of the settings in the trailers take place in a city area and are promoting te city too, but decide to make the city like 40% Regardless, Im still buying the game day 1 because we all know the game is gonna be f*ckin amazing Edited September 11, 2013 by Romel3

The concrete jungle of GTA4 bored me to death and I had to put up with it for 5 and a bit freakin years so the countryside in GTA5 is a welcome sight. So many stunts, off roading, rallying, surviving in the wilderness and general arsing about to be had out in the open countryside.
