kickaschris007
GTA IV supported anything from 480p to 1080p. On PS3 the default for most games is 720p even though they support 1080p, but if you go to the settings and make it 1080p it will play the games that support it in that resolution. Are there any box covers or some sort of evidence that GTA V will support 1080p? Or will it be limited to 720p? Rockstar said that they are pushing the current gen hardware to its limits, I'm wondering if this has a play in whether or not the it will be able to support a higher resolution. EliasMansour
It should support 1080p.
Distrom
It should support 1080p. Do you expect or do you think 2005 hardware to support native 1080p?
Jameson312
Does anyone know if that will do any good? I mean, is an up-res'd 720p going to make a bit of difference? Do games run smoother in their native resolutions? Someone around here should be able to answer this. Unless I set my ps3 to run at the games native resolution (which is usually always 720p), my tv will upscale it to 1080p, and i'm wondering which is better. neone? Adriaan
Did GTAIV run in 1080p though? Didn't it revert to 720p when you booted it up....? You could see on some TVs the settings changing.

I play GTA IV in 1080p and the performance is the same as if it were running in 720p.

I was thinking of other games like Uncharted. But for IV, it's not native resolution - obviously. It's 640p, which allows you to upscale it to 720p, 1080i or 1080p... And as someone already pointed out, the same can be done for V - as seen on the back of box art. Edited September 10, 2013 by Adriaan
lazloisdavrock
PS3 only ran GTAIV in 640 then upscaled. Xbox ran it in 720, then would upscale from that to whatever you wanted. as far as V, both 720 Edited September 10, 2013 by lazloisdavrock
matsix
Why do people always ask this... On current gen consoles the games don't run at full 1080p. Well for the most part. Xbox 360 upscales from 720p therefore not giving a full 1080p hd experience.
Cr!minal
GTA V has native resolution of 720p. It's up to Xbox 360/PS3 hardware scaler to do the upscaling.

AndreyKva
No, it will support 720p and upscale it according to the TV size, just like every other game on current console gen.

No, either none of them whatsoever run at 1080p (as in, they "run" at 1080p but in reality it's just a 720p upscale - EVERY console game that I know of that claims 1080p does this), or VERY few games natively run at it. I can only imagine that a 2D platformer or the likes would run at native 1080p, because for any graphically intensive game to run at that resolution would just lead to a slow death for the outdated console hardware.
