GKP
Do game devs play there own games once its released ? Perhaps it depends on ones role...tester , artist, script writer etc Being as intimate with their own world...what an irony, perhaps the only people in the world who are already sick and tired of V are its fathers (and mothers perhaps). Is there a record of R* playing 1 , 2, III , VC etc ? The extremely secretive nature of the Housers Bros give little insight but their passion for recreating reality , and the fact that they 'wont stop' until they do so to the fidelity that they are happy with does pose the question. Can an artist appreciate their own work ?

Adriaan
Can an artist appreciate their own work ? Generally speaking, given that video games are made up of many parts any given artist should be able to appreciate the end result, i.e. the sum of all its parts coming together in a final finished product/experience. This also applies to films. Edited September 10, 2013 by Adriaan
Certinty
It will vary. For some I doubt they'll even touch the game for a while when it's launched but for others they might play if non-stop when it's released. At the end of the day it just matters on the individual as well as what and how much they have worked on.
mogz_cf3
Some must do, because on some games you play with/ against developers.
thejoshualee
I would say the medium of video games, especially Rockstar games, is such that there is enough on-the-fly experiences to justify someone familiar with it enjoying a playthrough. It's a virtual playground after all, just because you built the playground doesn't mean you can anticipate everything that will happen to it. GKP
Adriaan, I thought this, but perhaps those with a more intimate knowledge of the underlying code and (no doubt) fairly simple algorithms leading to seemingly complex behavior raise the curtain on the behind the scenes processes...and ruin it for themselves ? No doubt deathmatches and competitive MP play would be enjoyable regardless....in regard to exploration though ..... It would be FASCINATING to see a behind the scenes process, not the of the drudgery involved (coding) or the creative process (probably also tedious) but of high level management playing the game for the first time, seeing their baby walk for the first time and their realization they have something worth £Bns on their hand. INEEDVNOW
Asked myself this multiple times this week. After working this hard on this game I think they are the only people not playing this game 17th haha.

TheRealBars
Most devs are completely sick of their own game by the time it comes out.. lol. R* rarely releases interviews on stuff like that, guess we'll never find out.
Udrift
I know if you write a good song, you can get stuck playing it for years. People hate this. Some songs are probably better than others, but with any song, being that you are so familiar with it from playing it so much, PLUS the familiarity of it being your own tune can be much. The glitter wears off.
