Will the online community be the same for both consoles?

Here we are, one week from release and I'm still trying to decide which damn console to buy the game for. At first, I was 100% set on getting the game for 360, mainly because I prefer achievements over trophies. But lately, I've been considering the PS3 version because I have way more hard drive space and I would have to buy a new 360 controller. I guess it will just have to come down to GTA Online.

So my question is, which online community do you guys think will be more active? I have extremely limited PSN experience, but I have heard so many people say that it isn't as thriving as XBL. But with a game as widely anticipated as GTA V, maybe both online experiences will be just fine. Also, most of my friends only play GTA for the single player mode and not online, so unfortunately that doesn't help make my decision any easier.

What do you guys think? What are the pros and cons for XBL and PSN? Thanks!

I personally believe xbox is better, but that is only because I use my 360 more and all my friends play it.

I tried out PS3 and I just couldn't get used to it, sorry.

Also, I believe the community is more active on xbox.

I Can't say anything about the 360 but as for PS3, when GTA IV First came out it was very active online.

Activity should be fine for both versions.....

But in my experience in online gaming

Xbox- More people use mics, and expect a wide arrange of squeakers to men....one squeaker sounds like 3 kids playing.

PS3-Less mics but gives the illusion of less kids when in fact it will be the same number compared to the Xbox version

But hey if your paying for gold, might as well get the 360 version unless the time is almost up and not renewing

Activity won't be a issue for either console.

The only issue you will likely see is the lack of mic usage with the PS3. That in itself is more than enough reason to buy it for the 360 as heists and competitive modes will pretty much require good communication and team work.

I have a preference for the PS3 network, partially because of the lack of mics, less annoying people ranting on about whatever problems come up from the game mechanics. 360 network used to be more populated at the launches because PSN had infrastructure problems, but ever since the hack quite a while back PSN has been brought up to spec and it is thriving. I also expect that the thriving group that play PSHome just for the social aspects of it and the character customization will see fit to come over to GTA:O.

Ultimately it comes down to a couple of things.

1. Which system/controller do you personally prefer.

2. Which system do most of your friends (online or local) play on.

3. Which system do you have the safest chance of installing the game on.

4. Which system is likely to survive the game, (after 4 rebuilds on my 360 I gave up on XBox.)

I also expect, on the note of voice interactions, you'll see a lot of people dust off their bluetooths for the fact that the voice chat can affect the speed of a heist or stick up.

Don't know about XBL, but PSN is actually a fairly active community, from what I can tell. Anyone who tells you that PSN is like a ghost town doesn't know anything about it. However, about a year and a few months ago (I think...), there was a severe hack that lead to PSN being shut down for a good few months. Since then, the only major hack I've ever heard of since then was the leak of GTA V information because some hackers got a hold of GTA V through PSN. If anything, PSN has kinda lousy customer service, but that probably is because it's free. If I were you, I'd probably just stick with XBL though due to the fact that your friends are on there and not on PSN.

It will be active on both regardless.. But i understand the mic situation plus Xbox live party chat could be a bit better for crews and such.
