Jimbatron
Hi - I'm thinking about getting a capture device for my PS3 to record some GTA V gameplay videos. Can anyone recommend any type to get or pros and cons of different alternatives? Am I right in thinking V will be in 720p so there's no benefit of getting something that can handle 1080p? Also are there issues with DHCP encryption issues to consider?

semie
I have the Hauppauge PVR2 HD gaming edition and it is very easy to use and compatible with PS3 Xbox and pc. Also captures at 1080p with no delay passthrough!

dcp1293
I recommend the Elgato Game Capture HD, I have personally owned the Avermedia Live Gamer HD (Just had to RMA it for repairs), Happaugge HD PVR, Dazzle and now the Elgato.. It records up to 1080P and also includes a cable to get around the HDCP lock that Playstation has.
TenEightyOne
As this isn't really GTAV specific you might be better asking in the Technology sub-forum. A lot of experience in there that might be avoiding this part of the forum right now Edited September 10, 2013 by TenEightyOne
gtasadude
The Avermedia Live Gamer Portable is the best consumer-level capture card on the market right now. The best quality of them all (60mbps H.264), and it's very easy to use. Very few drawbacks. The Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle is better if it's compatible with your system, but it's much more complicated to use. The Elgato captures at a significantly lower data rate, getting it instead of the Avermedia would be a huge mistake.
jumper2011
You will need a HDMI Stripper to bypass the HDCP from the HDMI signal.
