tinman187
So R* just used little tricks of the developer/marketing trade here and there to compliment the smaller city portion of the map. Their trailers were a product of select scene selection, leaving out any clips that may reveal too much or any clips that may cast their map in a negative light. But what do you want them to do? Put a disclaimer in every video telling people "Beware, city in trailer is smaller than it appears"? It's your alls fault if you got let down really. R* is just making do with what they have. You wouldn't post unflattering pictures of your girlfriend, so why would you expect R* to show off anything but their best? TenEightyOne
Well how about you explain the night time shot of the the marines helicopter when you can see the city skyscrapers WAY WAY in the back of the screenshot? It's a big map, they just don't wanna spoil anything. Wait till the games out to judge the map size. Field of view, depth of field... hard to gauge on a still picture but easier on a moving picture. We'll know when we know
ArcaneKnight
Wait.. So does this mean that they lied and the size of the map is not San Andreas, liberty city, and red dead redemption combined? No they didn't lie, because when they made that statement, they were including the underwater portion of V's map to help with that argument. SnapChap
yep it's a small map. I'm cancelling my preorder and never buying another Rockstar game ever in my life. Seriously worst game company ever Thank goodness, then you'll no longer have need to join us on these forums. This kids is why leaks are bad m'kay? Everyone speculating, acting as if they've already played the game and making fools of themselves. Now before you go ahead and make a fool of yourself, stop and have a think, there's more to a world than the cities that are in it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarcasm Thank goodness you sent me that link, if only you'd read it you would have realised that sarcasm doesn't translate well in text: Sarcasm is "a sharp, bitter, or cutting expression or remark; a bitter gibe or taunt."[1][2] and sarcasm may employ ambivalence,[3] although sarcasm is not necessarily ironic.[4] "The distinctive quality of sarcasm is present in the spoken word and manifested chiefly by vocal inflections". Jumping back on topic Wait.. So does this mean that they lied and the size of the map is not San Andreas, liberty city, and red dead redemption combined? I don't think they lied, I think people are taking the space outside of the city for granted. That and I suspect people are forgetting the vast space under the sea. If that comparison's correct (I think LC could be a couple of % larger but not very much) then the map will be awesome. No doubt. Lots of everything for everyone... I'm very impressed! And, as you say, there's the under-sea stuff. I think there'll be a few surprised there too Edited September 10, 2013 by TenEightyOne
GlenTempest
Don't understand why people are so negative. In 6 days you will have probably the best game ever made. Screw the map size. We know it's huge and you'll forget about any negative feelings you have once you're engulfed in all the activities that are available. Oh and to put it into perspective. San Andreas was 13 square miles. GTAV is between 20-25. Bye.

mdgrncw
I'll say I didn't get the perspective at first. I was still half asleep getting my kids ready for school and I was scrolling the forums. Looking at it now I realize its huge. There are little neighborhoods with houses scattered over the map and if you scale their size to everything else this map is pretty freakin big.
