Nobody really Cares, everyone has their own opinion on best games, I enjoyed the uncharted series more than anything this generation. Size and immersion, TES has massive landscapes, with Daggerfall, a game released in the mid-90s dwarfing GTAVs map. Is it fun? Yes, from the stoners (not Middle Easterners, marijuana enthusiasts) like me who like to marvel at the insane dungeons and discover the huge and beautiful landmass that is guaranteed with every release; to the nerdier types who love the lore and the history of Nirn (the planet), Tamriel (the Nation), and whatever province the game is set it. So, yes, you have to be a specific deeper and more of a 'finer things' type of person to love this amazing franchise, and to me, it blows GTA out of the water. What about GTA? GTA is a fun game, there is no lore, so that every idiot can understand what's going on, which makes a lot less of a strain on the brain and more of a casual, relaxed experience. And you can really tell when you read their responses on these kinds of threads. I couldn't care less about this award though, it's only 2013. @dude-bro: Someone's trying to hold a rep up. It's a really rich deep game like any RPG should. Now can one be better than the other? Hell no. They both have different goals as games, it's the same reason you don't compare GTA and Saints Row, because they have different goals in what experience they are giving. Had the Elder Scrolls series not become watered down garbage, and instead maintained the depth and quality of Morrowind and Daggerfall, they would easily be better. Rockstar has made poor design choices in their games as well, however they don't seem to be on a downward slope with each game inferior to the one before it. I'm growing weary of all these fantasy/ aliens/ zombie games, they all come out more or less the same. GTA on the other hand is on another level. The gameplay is fantastic, but the writing is what makes it for me. No other game is soaked in satire like GTA, every sentence slices open a part of American culture with wit and humor. GTA is great because of the structured freedom (seems oxymoronic, I know)and satire while TES is great because of the depth of the setting and the fun of creating your own character.
