Hype decline after seeing the map.

I'm hoping to see a bunch of little country towns/ farming communities. If it's just like the map then....

My hype has gone up.

Was going to say the same thing actually...and while the city does seem small, it may only be so because the countryside is gigantic - i.e. the city will still be plenty large for most of us to enjoy. Also, I already prefer this map to the one in IV, simply because in IV there was very little beach/countryside, everything was dark and grey and I often felt rather claustrophobic with nowhere to really enjoy driving/cruising/looking around. Personally, I'll wait to experience the map myself before giving the final judgement as to whether the map is big enough.

Most of the hands-on previews up to this point have only asserted the fact that the map is huge and the scope of this game is huge. To each his own but I will not be judging this game on a picture of a map. Doesn't the guide also have a handful of maps showing different things?

The city of Los Santos itself is bigger than Liberty City....which was f*cking huge. On top of that you have a massive country side for flying planes, having races and hunting.

The map is f*cking perfect and has increased my hype.

I don't think Rockstar would leave all of that empty. If there was nothing to do in those places why would it even be included?

GTA Forums members: RDR was so good, the map and countryside in it was amazing

GTA Forums members: f*ck this map is sh*t, there's to much countryside.

My question is: If you haven't played the game yourself, how do you know that the map is so empty? and small?

You really think R* went: "You know what? Let's make a smaller city then the previous game and just fill the rest of the map, that is also smaller, with desert and forest with nothing to do."

No. It's still huge. I do feel cheated because it doesn't look as big as "GTA IV, San Andreas, and Red Dead Redemption combined." It looks as big as IV with RDR stuck on the top at most. We'll see I guess.

Pretty disappointed in how small Los Santos is. But still hoping for it to be great. Never believing their BS again tho. LC is way bigger than LS.

No it's not. It's goddamn not.

My hype has fallen as well but only because of you pessimistic guys.

Well this is gta 5 not rdr idiot

And? People loved countryside in RDR, loved it in GTA SA, criticized GTA 4 for not having it and now when you get it you complain you dick.

Yeah your hype went down, because I bet you were probably expecting a Just Cause 2 sized map.

Which is? Never played just cause 2, and i don't give a f*ck about the size of the map, its the lack of content in the countryside aka NO TOWNS just miles of pointless road leading to nowhere.

ANd blind R* fanboyism continues in every topic, you people will rather jump under a train then admit that R* made a mistake or f*cked up something. Not saying that game will be bad, it will be good, but country will get boring pretty soon.

can see why people are worried, but c'mon, they havent worked on a game for 5 years + to just make hills and a small city. City looks big. Theres a load of hills etc to do ssome mad jumps off, to explore.

Plus on gta4, how long did it take to get from one side to the other in a helicopter? Not long at all. We now have PLANES. Means you wont have to circle the same area and can have a bit of fun with them!!

I like it..

When playing the game, you will probably feel like a tiny ant in such a huge open world. Don't forget under the sea is probably huge too.

Fortunately, I played Red Dead Redemption. I know that the words you say have been proven false before they came out of your mouth.

So many people on this forum expect this game to be like what they imagined... It's still a big game with so many side activities. RDR literally had just small towns and it still had a lot of stuff to do

After YEARS of lurking these forums I had to register, just to say: I think the map's fine. My hype went up after examining the picture and realizing there are a lot of places that may not have streets or buildings but that most likely will stillhave stuff in them. I'm excited about going there riding a bike and taking my time to explore. Liberty City was just that, city, and it got boring after a while. Now finally we can go back to proper stunts and not just jumps!

I DO understand how the other side feels, and maybe yeah, maybe the map could have been bigger, but to what for? To have the same buildings repeated, the same decoration in each part, the same NPCs saying the same stuff all over? I'm pretty sure most of the map here is actually unique. In any case, map size is the least of my worries with this game, if story's good and gameplay's smooth, then exploring every inch of it will be even more satisfactory.
