I love it when people say, "It's just a game." A game, that took over 200 million dollars, over a hundred days in L.A. and recruiting FBI and gang members for authentic voice overs, etc, etc. This is far more than just a game at this stage.

One week left. One week before we will finally, finally, after 693 days, or 16,632 hours, have a copy of GTA V in our hands. But it's much greater than that.

 

It's been a wait that has, arguably, defined this generation of video gaming, and I'm sure will define video gaming as a whole so far. GTA V is the finest farewell this generation could receive, a generation that has coughed up other Rockstar classics like IV and RDR.

 

On October 25, 2011, Rockstar put the whole world on notice with just four characters:

 

#GTAV

Since then, a slow trickle of information up until the tail end of 2012 defined the wild mix of frustration, excitement and sheer curiosity gamers all over the world experienced. Both you and I have been part of this wild mix, and it's been one hell of a ride. Cut to today, and time really does fly. If I'd told you 'GTA V will be here before you know it', I probably would have copped many punches in the face.

 

 

For all the frustration of waiting for the greatest game ever to arrive, I must say it's been fun. We've watched the Mapping Los Santos thread grow and grow, hitting 1178 pages before the awesome forum upgrade; we've watched a stack of trailers about 200 times each all up (and the rest!); and have spent hours keeping an eye on the Newswire, or just as much time hitting 'Refresh' on the home page of gtav.net!

 

So to those reading this: the wait is just about over. The time has come. OUR time has come. Rockstar's time has come.

We have truly came along way. Felt like I was here the whole time....wait....I was here the whole time!!!

Through the "find the blue" saga and all of the early speculations about who the protag was going to be.

Through "2405" that captivated everyone for no reason whatsoever....its almost over.

 

In a way I do feel that this is a somber occasion. People who have been on here or been trolling here

for years know about all of what we been going through since Nov of 2011. It almost feels like this great

wild ride is over and a part of me is going to miss this. The pointless dumbass threads, the fake game play

and box cover, the realistic steak that lasted way too long imo...I'm going to miss it.

 

 

Until GTA 6...
