GTA V Map Leaked via Strategy Guide

The map this thread is about is real. The confirmation comes from Rockstar first telling GTAV.net to remove it. They wouldn't ask for a removal if it wasn't real. They eventually allowed it again but probably because the "damage" has already been done. The leak was already all over the place before they started mopping.

 

If the map is fake, which I doubt, the guy who faked it is extremely good. so good that it even fooled Rockstar.

It is not real. The map supposedly in the guide is FAKE. It is a fanmade map from igta5.com. You can even see that the map is not finished with roads missing west of Mount Zancudo.

 

Considering the map is utter fake the rest is likely fake as well.

 

 

Plus it has pre-order links and links to the trailers, which you can't possibly do in a printed guide.

If you notice I broke down the scale from which I believe to be the 2000ft mark and the end which is the 5000ft mark.....this scale would even out to 3000ft. I've segmented that scale from the most bottom point to the most northern and it evens out around 34 marks. So (34 x 3000ft = 102,000ft.) 102,000ft equals out to about 19.31miles or (31.08 kilometers). Lets just say thats a pretty good trek if you were given a straight-shot road from south to north......but, of course we have roads and mountains and its much more vast when you consider the all around scale of the map. Hope this helps.PS: If there was a straight road from the bottom to the top-- driving at 50mph would take about 22 minutes and 48 seconds real time to get from A to B.

 

NO! At the end of scale is 3000ft which is 1000m in the bottom. Your calculations should be 34x1000ft = 34000ft = 6,44 miles (10,4 km).

 

SO the map is not that big

 

I cleaned up the image (which is hard to see details regardless) and it looks very much like 5000ft.No sorry man it's 3000 ft. 3000ft = 914 meters which lines up with scale. So this is incorrect. I have no problem with the map, its the perfect size for me. Why would you want a map as huge as Just Cause 2 or Chenarus from ArmA 2?

Anyways no rockstar was not lying on the size either, it really is bigger than SA IV an Red Dead combined if you take account the scaling.

I'm still on the fence about this. Notice how all the parts from the fan-made map coincide EXACTLY with this one. I mean, the outline was already known due to an achievement showing it, the scale and known places are the EXACT same as in the fan-made one, some confirmed areas are still missing (pala springs, there was another desert, some more). I think this is a brilliantly made fan map that started with our fan made one and finished it with their own imagination (hence that there are only a few loose buildings next to the areas we already know and no extra small towns). Brilliant job.

What do all the symbols on the map mean?

 

Do we know yet? Some are obvious like base jumping spots and purchasable buildings, mountains and LS customs and sh*t, but what are the running man icons, magnifying glasses, that weird green symbol in East Lost Santos and Vespucci, the blue PC symbols and the orange symbols?

 

 

By magnifying glasses, did you mean the tennis rackets?

I'm also guessing the running man is probably a triathlon?

Absolutely no idea about the one in East Los Santos/Vespucci or any of the orange symbols.

 

Also, there's a few pink ones that look like movie cameras - cinemas do we think? And what about the binoculars, for example on Del Perro pier?

 

There's also plenty of writing that I can't read, particularly up north.

What's that big horseshoe road on the East Coast just about parallel with the Alamo Sea?

IT cannot be confirmed that this map or anything pertaining to this leak is real, however in the chance that it is real, it is possible that we will be forced to remove it from the forums. I don't think this is the map, looking at San Andreas map from back in the day there was more to offer including 2 other cities... maybe I missed something in the other pages and this map could only be of 1 island? who knows but I don't think this is real.

San Andreas looks bigger to you on paper due to it having three cities. But if you were able to grasp the actual scale you'd know that SA cities are just neighbourhoods in V's LS which is alone as big as those 3 cities from SA (more or less).

 

 

I understand the scale just fine, the layouts don't match and I'm not convinced based on "size" alone that this is an accurate map, look back at all the maps from the previous games, they were all similar why wouldn't they do the same for the SAME exact city.
