MuffinMcFluffin
I've seen the GTA V commercial twice now, and one thing that struck me as peculiar compared to the YouTube version of it was that the framerate was significantly higher than 30 FPS (this is something you can't notice on YouTube since it automatically converts everything to 30 FPS). I can't exactly say how many frames per second it was at... could have been 60, could have been 48, I'm not sure. But I know for a fact that wasn't anything like a "stable 30 FPS." This potentially gives me high hopes that this is how the PS3 and 360 versions run. That, or the trailer was just a trailer, and Rockstar did whatever they wanted to the footage to make the framerate higher. Or they ran it on a PC or PS4 or something. I'm not sure, but I sure have given myself this glimmer of hope that what I saw on TV might actually be what we get when we put the game in our consoles next week. Thoughts? Articles that have said one way or the other?
rockstaranonymous
I believe that the game will be running at 720P (1280px x 720px) at 30fps.
MuffinMcFluffin
I believe that the game will be running at 720P (1280px x 720px) at 30fps. That's my assumption as well, but I'm wondering if you have seen the commercial on TV like I have? I'm just curious if it would be like Rockstar to show off something that wouldn't be like the final product. It just intrigued me is all. PoliceFarm
Some TV's have a method of interpolating frames, so the footage would be 30 or 29.97 fps, but the TV can make in-between frames that make it look like 60.
MuffinMcFluffin
It doesnt really matter does it? Your gonna play the game and love it just like everybody else.... Come on man, it really does matter. I'm not saying I won't buy the game, but there are a lot of things Rockstar didn't have to do for us and we would have still bought the game. It isn't ever bad to look for more great things, and believe me when I say a framerate difference is not a minuscule change. I don't know where to start with my response, other than to say you're barking up the wrong tree if you think that's the effect I'm seeing on my television set. I'm not insulting your post, but I surely hope that my intelligence on modern-day televisions doesn't get insulted in this thread either. Let's just go as far as saying I know exactly what you're talking about, and this is not one of those cases.

If you've ever played Uncharted 2, you'll see that it's just as smooth both ingame and in cutscenes.

I wasn't referring to that. I assume whatever they have is locked (or as locked as can be). After all, one of the shots is of the jet blowing up those vehicles on the freeway. What would be considerable slowdown in GTA IV showed nothing on the commercial. I'm talking about a stable framerate here too. I'm just wondering if any articles have ever said anything on the matter before.
05-BROCKY-05
The hands on previews were said to be 30fps without much drop at all even with scenes that should slow it down, this was on the 360, no real info on ps3, but rockstar have said both are the same. Whether you're driving a car, flying a plane, or setting off explosions. I expect smooth, constant frame rate at all times and I think R* will give us that, especially since this game has been in development for over 5 years. Also, in the gameplay trailer, the commentator mentioned that everything feels responsive and fluid, so I don't think we'll be disappointed. MuffinMcFluffin
PS3 RDR was 25FPS 640P^^ I'm not speaking on the past of these games, only referring to the commercials. However, I do value what you said here. Any chance that you know if TLAD and BOGT were a higher resolution/framerate than normal GTA IV on PS3? TheGodDamnMaster
I bet it will be 30fps. The gameplay video and various preview articles have said it runs smoothly. Poker2012chu
Framerate should be like other R* games, stable with possibly a stutter in a problem spot. In RDR, that was Thieves Landing for me. FPS should be fine, this isn't a pre-patched Bethesda game.

ChocoFrosty
It may have been playing at a faster speed. Most TV stations playback video at a slightly faster speed to save time. You can google that, it's real.

The INPUT LAG.

You can google that, it's real. I wouldn't doubt this. You might be right. Still trying to think though, that I've probably seen commercials for other games which run at 30 FPS and the commercial reflects that as well. Like I said, I'll be pleased either way... but hot damn, imagine if this was at true 720p and 60 FPS. That would be amazing!

TheGodDamnMaster
From what I've seen from the leaks today, you don't need to be worried at all. I'm not kidding when I say I think I saw portions that were up in the 40's.
