While on the xbox it supports resolution upscaling up to 1080 interlaced or progressive. interesting. djdiond Posted September 10, 2013 Share Posted September 10, 2013 (edited) They are both Native 720p. Up scaling to 1080p literally does nothing other than stretch the video from 720p to 1080p. Ever stretched an image before? It will not get you the extra pixels from 720p to 1080p, For XBOX 360, the console will do the upscale (stretch to fullscreen before TV output). Are you kidding me? Just cause the 360 upscale it doesn't make it better. It makes the picture worst. If you upscale anything from their ORIGINAL you will see the flaws more. Because your XBOX will stretch the 1280x720 resolution to 1920x1080 then outputting it to your TV DOES NOT make it look any better than PS3 outputting at 1280x720 and your TV displaying it fullscreen. It'll be okay either way on TV screens. What you should be more concerned about is why the PS3 doesn't upscale if it doesn't, and what has been done on PS3, but not on 360, allowing extra overhead for an upscale option. Because the PS3, I'm sure I don't have to tell anyone, is the more modern, more capable, and more powerful machine out of the two. For 360 to be able to upscale, and this feature is left out of PS3 - the question for me would be, what is the PS3 doing, that the 360 is not? It could just be that they are behind on PS3 like they were last time (this time, PS3 is full res, but only 360 will upscale), so don't get cocky on assumption anyone, it could just be that, and not that Rockstar have tapped the PS3 - though they likely are about to be one of the first developer to show the differences in those consoles (though not the first). If its true what he's saying which most likely is true. That means the 360 version will LOOK worst due to the stretch out picture. In fact, I have a 42 inch Sony 1080P right beside my 32 inch Vizio 720P. I am getting the game for both consoles.
