3 protags could end up being an annoying chore?

May be a bit old/brought up already, but I'm only bringing this up after I picked up the GTA Game Guide magazine.

It brought up how twhile you may be focused as one character, if you don't check in on the other characters, they could end up dieing. And if they die, the game starts you back from the last checkpoint/save point.

This seems really annoying. While I understand, there has to be some way to check out on the protags, I really don't like this idea of me just having fun focused on myself, only to have it randomy stop because the AI died.

I really hope it doesn't have to be continous checking.

I think that you only restart to the last checkpoint if one of the protagonists dies in a mission; I don't think they can die in free roam, outside of missions (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

They're talking about missions. If Michael is getting shot up and you're busy jerking off in a chopper as Trevor, Michael could die.

In the normal game, my guess is that you will have to switch occassionally to move the story forward. For instance, if you focus on playing as Trevor, he may run out of available missions until you complete missions with Franklin and Michael, so they're around the same point in the story.

That'd be fine then, and I could completely understand if it was primarly about missions.

Really hope it isn't a chore in free mode though. Really, REALLY hope.

Only for missions, Free Roam is Free Roam. Two have x2 the possibility of forced restart during Free-Roam is absolutely stupid. Highly doubt R* would implement that for FR.

R* pride themselves on Sandbox. A virtual world to do as you please, to take away or restrict that in Free Roam would be absurd.

It won't feel like a chore, you'll just get the urge to check on them, but they won't die unless you're controlling them.

R* isn't stupid, they would not do this to us, hopefully.

It's been confirmed that the protagonists cannot die in free roam when you're not controlling them. You can still meet up with them and they can be brought to the brink of death, but they just respawn at a hospital like normal even if you blast them in the face with a shotgun. If you're not controlling them, they never get killed period.

Protagonist death is only possible during missions, but the checkpoint system makes it MUCH less of a headache, unlike past GTAs where you needed to replay all or almost all of the mission every time you failed. You'll also be alerted if a character is in danger or if they're in a prime position to find backup, so you'll be warned if you suddenly need to switch to someone. It'll also occasionally force a switch (which isn't necessarily a bad thing if one of the protagonists has to do a scripted action or their task is much more boring, like Michael going off to find a boat while Trevor chases a train on an ATV).

Firstly they cant die on their own.

Secondly, we dont know anything about this, but you have the point.

IMO just like Baldurs gate, you should be able to order them a destination or when they are idle they return to their safehouse or you select the nearest spot on map

I think it should be noted that when Rockstar set out to create three protagonists, it was for the purpose of keeping you in the action as much as possible, to avoid tediousness.

Are you kidding? Rockstar wouldn't implement random death of the protags while you're not playing as them that makes you restart random. That's an insanely stupid idea.

All we know is that we can meet up with the protagonists while they're doing their own thing. Nothing about orders, but you DO get an achievement/trophy for surviving a 3 star wanted level for 3 minutes with all 3 protagonists together, so presumably you can at least stick together to some limited extent.

When not playing as them, they'll otherwise go about their own business. So you could switch back to Trevor to find him in the middle of a police chase or just waking up from a massive bender, or find Michael walking down Vinewood Blvd. checking his phone.

I don't mean to be too forward but this is a really stupid thread, the protags are basically indestructible when you aren't controlling one, that's all you need to know..

I'm pretty sure they can die off mission, but it doesn't effect the story, They most likely will just respawn at the hospital like every f*cking past GTA Since.

Exactly as I said just a few posts up. Though they'll only "die" and respawn if you're actually with them; otherwise they're off doing their own thing.
