But I don't like that button....

Me neither. Respect has a relationship with GTA, "Like" is Facebookbullsh*t.

I don't understand why the moderators decide to be more like other sites such as Facebook and whatnot...

Why not just keep it simple? All these extra things that are pointless make it cluttered and stupid..

Like is way better than Respect IMO. It has happened a few times that I like some posts, but I dont necessarily respect the person who made this post.

Yeh, the respect made more sense and was more in line with GTAforums than this facebook "like" button. After all, as GTA2 pointed out, "respect is everything."

You should respect everyone until they prove not worthy of it. That is the problem of the respect button.

I hit the "like this" button of your post. What did it do ?

Someone notices something ?

Dude, you know exactly what this "respect"-thing meant. It had a unique characteristic in terms of the GTA-relation. Now we have this bland "like"-button...

Because everyone abused the f*ck outta it by spamming pointless gifs and posting witty replies in order to gain their popularity.

I know it was related to GTA and all.. but it didnt make any sense. It basically was the like button, just named "respect" with a few numbers under your nickname. So.. why not use Like for a Like instead of Respect.
