Did anyone else hope they make interior accessibility more recognizabl

One thing I don't think I've ever really seen discussed on here or the GTAIV forums was that, atleast in my opinion, GTAIV made it a little difficult to recognize which interiors were and were not accessible and it really was a petpeeve of mine.

In GTAVC they made the accessible interiors have doors that were already open and in GTASA they used the blinking yellow arrows to signify what could and couldn't be accessed but GTAIV (and also RDR) had nothing to signify what doors could be pushed open unless you actually tried to run into them and then they would magically swing open. I have no clue how many interiors I may have missed because there was nothing special to designate them from the rest of the doors in the world that were just textures. (Or am I missing something?)

Hopefully GTAV remedies this in some way without breaking the immersion of the world.

ZombCreations

I agree. There were many times I was running around online and accidentally walked into the door of an apartment building that I probably went in once for some random mission.

In L.A. Noire, accessible interiors were indicated by a gold doorknob. Maybe Rockstar used this for gta 5?

Yep I'd like them to make then noticeable.

No idea how many interiors I missed in IV.

I honestly only remember going in a handful not including safe houses

Yes... something to let us know if we just look. It would be a Martha Stewart level Good Thing! Not to be confused with Parliafunkadelicmentspromentalsh*tbackwashpsychosisenemasquad type of good thang!

You are complaining about no indicators in GTA 4?

you should be mature enough to understand why?

a great aspect about exploring a map lies in details to be found.

Imagine how fast gta 4 turn out to be a bore with those indicators. at least it gives you a reason to feel the live city w/o handholding ( like in SA )

I always disliked those flashy indicators & heart-shaped icons spawning in the corners, interiors, etc

Or... maybe people want to see the full extent of the game.

They're not asking for a blinking part on the map saying "ENTERABLE AREA HERE." They're asking for an indicator.

Honestly, tell me what's so horribly wrong with the golden door knob idea? It would still give people the idea to explore to find them. They'd at least be able to see all the cool interior designs. Why would that be such a bad idea?

Are you implying it's much more mature to run into random doors hoping they just magically swing open?

I you are not sure how many interiors you have missed in GTA IV... -> You haven't played it enough.

:D

I'm 98% sure I have seen all the interiors,.. there is _a lot_ copy paste interiors, and many unique interiors..

Yeah, same thing.

In GTA IV, enterable interiors have different doors than "non-enterable" interiors..

And those bright yellow indicators, or pink tubes of light didn't break immersion? Yet, an unmarked door that you could push open without being told whether it was open or closed did?

I've never seen one of those pink tubes in front of a door in real life. If I did, I think it would probably break my real-world immersion.

Simple solution? Make all interiors enterable.

I say 'simple', I mean 'hugely ambitious and incredibly unlikely'. But I really hope they've upped the number or interiors hugely.

Signatures are dumb anyway.

How does my want for a well-designed way to designate which interiors are and aren't accessible have anything to do at all with my level of maturity? You're being a little ironic with your post if you want to mention anything about maturity. I didn't care for the GTASA indicators either which is why I said it should be done in a way that doesn't break immersion. The golden door knob idea is actually pretty good...

If R* went through all of the man hours to create these tiny little details like they did with the GTAIV interiors, I figure they would want to give the player a way to see exactly where these places are without having to literally spend hours and hours running into thousands of house doors like an idiot just to see which one just happens to pop open.

no, not at all ( and never meant insulting your opinion ).

Since, so long these flashy indicators are part of GTA that perhaps it was little uncomfortable, but there has to be a change to it.

The best way ( it's too late now to suggest for 17 ) still to come up is just avoid indicators and implement a differentiating feature that's not too obvious such that you loose the immersion.

I for once want to wait whether GTA V actually has shown some bold step ( unique ) into this aspect.

I know about fie places that have similar looking doors like other places do.

Only ways I for sure knew that I could go i was when I could see the texture through the window. Other than that? Had no idea.

To my knowledge, the doors leading to interiors are more detailed than others. You can point them out a mile away, to an extent. Example shown below of a building with an interior vs one without.

As you can see the red door leading to the Ammunation is more detailed & has modeled door handles compared to the flat door on the Liquor Store. (Think of L.A. Noire with the Golden Door Handles)
