Do you find it hard to believe this isn't a next gen game?

When you read all the more content and features this has compared to IV and all other games on this generations consoles? From the size of the map to the number of peds having routines like jobs to go to buying property?

There's just so much stuff, it feels like GTA V may be the only game to utilise the ps3 and 360's max potential?

If you told me before all the feautures of this game I'd be thinking it's next gen for sure

R* said it feels next gen...but I haven't played it yet to know

I do, but it excites me just as much, due to the fact it's not a next gen game, they've given themselves f*cking massive shoes to fill and I know they will fill it, I just can't think of what they'd do next !

Once we play it I worry we will start to think of what could have been for gta iv. But that was one of their first games on the 360 so it was like a demo for gta v

Yea... from what we know so far, it just sounds too good to be true. Isn't that's way everyone is so hyped for this... I never thought it could be possible on current gen to have so much in 1 game.

Makes me hate other Devs for making games in a year, do a halfassed job and charge 60$ for it.

No I don't find it hard to believe at all....What's wrong with you that you think otherwise? What concept of rockstar learning the different systems peccadilloes in order to maximize the current potential of existing devices don't you get? Are you daft?

i will believe it when i see it, but really, red dead was so immense and well put together, you would think it was a 1 gen game on xbox one...and that was 3 years ago. I am very interested as a fan of the business to see what rockstar has done with this game. I am positive the 8 gb install has a lot to do with it. I would rather have this game come out at the tail end of a generation than the beginning of one.

A great example is look at Hitman Blood Money compared to Absolution. The difference is ridiculous, and it is the same generation. Another comparison is look at Saints Row 1 and then Saints Row 4. There is a huge difference in graphic quality.

No I don't find it hard to believe as we've known forever it's for the current gen. What I can't believe is that people even give a sh*t about next gen at all right now with this game coming out and the fact that everything shown for next gen doesn't even look close to the amazing experience GTAV will provide. Game looks like it has everything I've ever wanted in a video game. Once a next gen title makes me feel like that I'll be amazed because none of the launch titles would make me want to venture away from Los Santos in anyway whatsoever. Next gen can wait a long ass while as far as I'm concerned.

Not necessarily though the game is huge and ambitious. Look how long it has taken to create it though? It just has that quality of quantity of content you dont normally find in a game.

When it comes to pedestrians I think you are hyping it up a bit more than what it actually will be. Sure it will be an improvement over GTA 4, but dont expect individual peds all be doing their own thing. You will see workers in work areas appropriate to what they are wearing, but I very seriously doubt you will be able to follow one home and then to work, and them back home again. I doubt there is the tech to support such current gen.

sell a sh*t load of current gen.
give it a year or two. when next gens bugs are kinked.
and R* will release something.
I know it.

they wouldnt just wait for next gen cause millions of people already have the current and made their money back from pre orders alone.

if they waited for next gen. it would flop.

Yes. Rockstar performed some black magic when making this game. I don't see how the game is packed with so much content, while retaining the beauty of the world and a strong FPS. Rockstar is King.

I just hope they didn't deliberately hold off on gta iv feautures so they could wow us that much more with V.

Like when coke bought in new coke then went back to the old.

It might not be "next gen" in terms of hardware that it runs on. However it is definitely "next gen" in terms of what the developers have learnt and new evolving techniques in the gaming industry for coding and texture rendering etc. I mean look at some of the awesome games R* has produced since the last GTA and you will see the evolution road they have been on. This is without a doubt going to a game in a different league to GTA IV

Not, because there is nothing too special about it besides having a huge amount of features.

The map is nothing special in size when there are much bigger maps available (from JC2 as a direct comparison, to FUEL that is the largest map of any console game.

The thing about peds is actually marketing and no, you won't get to follow one ped and see him ''live his life''. It's just a matter of smarter spawning rather than actual PEDs living their live. That is simply impossible to make in a game like GTA right now. Only games like TES have that, because they have a limited number of NPCs and a different structure overall.

But there is nothing really special here. Had they spent more time they could have made all these same features in any previous game since III.

I don't think it'll feel any more 'next gen' than the final few big-hitting titles on the PS2 did for it's gen, I dont think this game is going to feel anywhere as huge in scale as many are hoping for, but will make extensive use of the space its given itself and thats the important thing. It'll just feel like what it is on paper, the current gen being squeezed to its limit, but thats more than fine by me and will make for the most complete and accomplished game these ageing consoles have seen.

sh*tty programmers can't make anything happen. They are like Mr. Scot, constantly begging for more power because they suck at optimizing their code.

Rockstar is not filled with sh*t programmers.

I'll add: When a Rockstar programmer gets in a car accident and loses an arm, they tell the doctor, "Take them both, I'll type with my tongue!"

I think it's a good example of pushing current gen equipment to its limits, really getting out of it what you can.

If they waited this long to release the game, even during the announcements of the next-gen, and they still feel comfortable with the release on current gen consoles then I don't see a problem with it. It allows me to continue playing my console for a few years at least on a great game while everyone tests out the new consoles and finds the bugs like the Xbox 360 had when it launched. Nobody expected the Red Ring of Death problems with the Xbox 360, who's to say the Xbox One won't have problems. So I respect R* for not forcing us to go out and spend hundreds of bucks on new consoles, plus the money for the game just to play V.

I believe that eventually the game will come on the new gens though, and at that point it'll look even nicer being broadcast in 1080P instead of 720P. And they will probably up the player cap on online.

I feel after playing this people will begin to take the view that they really underachieved with GTA IV

It's kind of depressing to think that the games that will truly show the power of the next-gen consoles will only start showing up in 7 years time but yeah, if I had no knowledge of GTAV and someone showed it to me for the first time and said it was a PS4 launch title, I wouldn't doubt them...at all.

SEVEN MORE DAYS!

The map is nothing special in size when there are much bigger maps available (from JC2 as a direct comparison, to FUEL that is the largest map of any console game.

Map size is kind of irrelevant here; there are games with procedurally generated maps that are infinitely large. As in no matter where you go, the game just generates more and more map on the fly. But those games don't have a lot of unique content. JC2 had a big map, sure, but it was pretty generic. Cut and paste buildings, same terrain everywhere... there was nothing special about any of it. And displaying a big, boring map isn't exactly a challenge for a game console.

I suspect, based on the development time and the huge teams R* was using, that GTA5 will have the most detailed map, with the most unique features, of any console game. Or any game, for that matter.

I don't think it'll feel any more 'next gen' than the final few big-hitting titles on the PS2 did for it's gen

To me, the defining "almost next gen" game for PS2 was God of War 2. Did it feel like it was running on a next gen console? No, not exactly, but it stood above other PS2 games as a technical marvel (plus it was a f*cking good game, best of the series IMO).

I'm really surprised how much is in this game it does feel like a next gen game and I bet some next gen games wont even be able to match GTA V.

Honestly, I think console will eventually show their age with GTA V, I'm expecting low draw distance, heavy aliasing, pop ins, frame drops, low res environmental objects etc. Stuff that you don't see in trailers
