Phyxsius-
CJ was dead drunk one night and fell into the ocean, where he was eaten by a hungry shark. The end. His businesses were taken over by greedy vice presidents. The bitter end. Edited September 9, 2013 by Phyxsius-
Neudd
I'm expecting something between Franklin and Lamar where things get heated and one of them comments along the lines of "You're goin' on like you're the next Carl Johnson.." fromthecradletoenslave

aaronimpact
I want a mission where you have to break out of prison by enlisting the help of some older dude named CJ. He tells you about the good old days on Grove Street where he ran things. The Ballas took over after he ended up in prison, but his nephew Lamar is trying to get things back to the way they used to be! *YAWN* I don't want some old afro-american boring me with his stories. DODI3OG
It would be a welcome surprise. I really hate the whole "different universe" crap, because it not only derails harmless threads like this, but also eliminates many cool possibilities about ways Rockstar could implement tie ins from the past. It would be cool to see CJ as an older guy and see what happened to him, as well as other characters from Grove Street, which strangely enough, has survived a trip from that "different universe", along with Sprunk and many other things. Brands are exceptional in the "Different Universe" rule, smarty pants. Edited September 9, 2013 by DODI3OG
TheRealBars
What the f*ck is up with peoples stalker like fascination with CJ? Get your head checked. I seriously think they are kids who's first GTA was San Andreas. They played previous GTAs only to get known of the characters and then went back to San Andreas, not like older people who played previous GTA games since release and understand that GTA universe has much more interesting characters than CJ. UltimateVenom
GTA V = New game New game = New story New story = New characters Don't care about CJ, I was done with him after San Andreas... Besides the fact a substantial potion of people playing V will have never played San Andreas...

Knife
I know this subject has been done to death but my take on the limits of the "universes". There can be a version of anything and everything that can appear in any universe. Both the III era and IV era can share any number of names and even characters. But they can't be the exact same characters, just different versions of them. If there was a Carl Johnson in GTA V, he would be similar to San Andreas's CJ, but not the same person because his whole backstory as we know it would have to be different. The events of his life/story can't have taken place in a world which is so vastly different. So what would be interesting about seeing a version of CJ whose whole backstory is totally different to the one we played out in San Andreas? theiceman13

fromthecradletoenslave
how about we stop all the quote trains.. set aside our differences and find out on the 17th? Just stop.. like, everybody.. speculation is good, I love speculation but when people get obsessive and start arguments over it, it's pretty well f**ked. Just.. stop, for the love of god, please stop.
MovieGuy786
The whole CJ crap is getting annoying. How many times does Rock* has to spell is out: C J - D O E S - N O T - E X I S T. Jez and CJ sucks as a character one of the worst characters in the 3D verse. Hellz even Vince Vance was WAY better.
Pyrrhus
You can talk about Claude and Tommy as much as you want. You can say that Vice City was your favorite game and that would be cool but as soon as you mention CJ and/or San Andreas, these guys start attacking you. Stop telling us to let it go, it's part of the lore of the franchise. Just because Rockstar pushed their imaginary reset button does not mean that we're going to pretend that San Andreas never happened. It's reasonable that there should be some reference to CJ even in this new version of Los Santos. The Leone, Forelli and Sindacco crime families weren't mentioned in IV so why should CJ get a mention in V?

If Tommy, nor Claude is mentioned why the hell should CJ? He's not a compelling character. I remember most of the time it was CJ whining, or screaming like a little girl. Hellz if you want CJ so bad he should have a cameo in Republican Space rangers where the characters invade the hood then wipes him out. DP Man
I wish people would get over this Cj obsession, V takes place in the IV universe which has no connections to the III era games. Snoochie_Boochies
There may be some sort of reference to him, but likely just in an easter egg. No gta game will ever have the range of freedom and activities as san andreas, the fact they had to remove features to gta 4 and just about added half of them due to huge backlash says it all.... Glad they came to most of their senses lol. Cj is a legend.....fact that some dude bought up his race means you have no real reason to hate the idea of him being mentioned. And then, once it is said and done, there's no more CJ in the rest of the game, so why does it matter?

What does it have to do with him being black?? Or GTA SA being the highest rated Game? we're talking bout CJ here not GTA SA as a whole. I think he is one of the most boring and flat GTA characters, heck even the mute Claude ranks higher in my book. I just don't get the fascination with CJ... and i'm glad more people share that with me.. But most of you are probably to young to apreciate anything but the 'Yo yo Gangsta sheett!11!' kind of characters.. TheTechPoTaToCHIP
I don't get why people just keep clinging on to CJ, I mean sure he was a great and likable character but WTF!? HE IS NOT JESUS CHRIST NOW STOP TREATING HIM LIKE IT! He is becoming the gta version of Chuck f*cking Norris, everyone keeps talking about him for no good reason. JUST MOVE ON AND GIVE THE NEW CHARACTERS A CHANCE, instead of pathetically clinging on to old characters. Those characters had their time to shine, they did and now its time for the new ones to have a try. He does not exist in this rendition of Los Santos, its obvious Rockstar moved on, so should you. GSF Green Flag
If the protagonist is black he gets no love. People don't like CJ because he's black. Lets just put it on the table and not beat around the bush. No sugar coating. CJ had the most immersive and deepest story line out of Claude and Tommy, ain't no denying that. He's a lot more iconic and memorable than they are and i'll even go as far as saying that CJ is R*'s landmark protagonist, the most recognizable out of the bunch. He represents the GTA name. You ask someone if they played GTA and they'll more than likely say yea San Andreas. If a couple of Internet nerds hate on CJ then big f*cking deal who cares? He's still popular with 99 percent of GTAs core fan base and a lot of people would love too see him referenced. The houser brothers aren't stupid, there's no doubt that there's gonna be a CJ reference in this game. He's an icon and it would be stupid to not have him shouted out. I'm not saying the other guys weren't popular but they can't touch CJ in terms of popularity. It's not about holding on to the past, it's about R* creating a memorable character that a lot of people can relate too and loved thus its hard to forget the impact he made when he first appeared. The guy left a memory. Only little soft ass kids who were probably bullied and hold resentment towards anything that represents the urban culture of life will find something wrong with CJ. Grow the f*ck up.
