Futo
Looking at the job R* have done...no, the wait will be well worth it.
Gigabomber
Once every 3 years is fine. 5 is a little long, but it has the benefit of a 5 being behind the name not looking stupid after only 5 years.
DEERxBanshee
yearly release?? NO
ChocoFrosty
Every year would be absolutely terrible. 3-4 years would be great. But I imagine I won't be bored of V for much longer than that anyway.
RaptorTaco
Some games actually work okay with shorter breaks between games. Vice City came out pretty quickly after III, and many hold that as the best GTA ever. However, I'm glad GTA isn't annual, and I think rockstar has developed into a company that simply dont work that way. The wait was excruciating, but it's so close to being over, and from all we've seen, it looks like its been worth it! Pellegrini
PVieira21
Yeah it was a crazy long wait, but I hope and I'm sure it'll be worth it! Rockstar has never let us down in other major releases unlike some developers *whistles*
wwinterj
The quality of the product would slip if it came out every year. R* bring out at least one big game a year. Sure it's not GTA but I like it that way as variety is the spice of life and more time is spent on their products. It's hard to believe it's been 5 years since GTA IV. Time has gone really fast. NexusLordNova
To be fair, Assassin's Creed III & IV each had a two and a half year development cycle because each AC has a different development team. OT: I think 3 years would be more comfortable for me to wait for the next installment compared to V.
killahmatic
I'm not asking for a yearly release but yes 5 years was too long. What was even longer was the 2 years between trailer 1 and release.
dirtyunclechris
With the replay value GTA IV has, no way. However I really wish this game came out in May/June so I would of had all summer to play. Anyways, quality games are released every three or so years, not every year! (Except if you have the man power and money that Ubisoft pumps into the AC series).

BettyBlueGT
Be nice to have a new GTA every three years.
cmiller4642
Vice City and III were released within 1 year of each other but I think VC was just features they couldn't get to work in III. It's basically just copy and pasted over III. V is a completely different game than IV and it takes time.
Rafe
No yearly installments because it makes the game stale.. There was not much difference between AC 2 and it's ensuing expansions. AC 3 was jsut a worse version of AC 2 / brotherhood/ retirement. The secret to waiting 5 years for a game is TOTALLY ignoring it's development. Hell i've been here since 2002 and am only really active when a new GTA is about to come out. IGNORE IGNORE IGNORE. Be as ignorant as you can be about the development of a game. stumbows
I'd wait the 5 years as we have but like to see a really nice DLC addition to the game every 12 months. Maybe a large island you can travel to with more missions etc, or new cars, characters, weapons etc to keep us going until the next big release. I am talking something more impressive that L&D and TBoGT something that gives the game new life completely.
Seeto200
Its unfortunately a drawback of better graphics and higher performance, it takes a lot more time and man-power to create AAA titles than it did 10 years ago. Pellegrini
RyanM1995
This will never happen with GTA. If GTA V is going to be as good as I think it is (best game ever) then I'll wait as long as Rockstar needs for GTA VI but it's looking like it will be hard to top. Braindawg
GTA is GTA because it takes time to make. If you want Ass Creed or Cowadootie go and play Ass Creed or Cowadootie! At first I thought it was just a temporary thing with those two series, but f*ck it. It's all lost. AC and COD will never be what they were in the beginning. Phyxsius-
Yearly crap ruined most of my nice games. I am left with not a lot and I hope I keep coming back to a quality product...
jdwarfer
I don't care if it takes 3, 5, or even more years. Quality needs time. There are other games to play until the next episode. Edited September 9, 2013 by jdwarfer
s-u-r-y-a
Five years for a new GTA is a long wait but quality takes time and they should not rush it either. Good that they release other great games in the meanwhile.
Hayze
The 5 yr wait included Rockstar developing other games that involved new features, controls, refined engine, etc. that are being incorporated into GTA V. It was easily worth the wait for this to, in a way, be a best of Rockstar features in a GTA game.
