I don't think these reasons make any sense now, and in all honesty they never made.

This is a complete nonsense, specially the "sandbox is so 2001". The open world is what make GTA so good, and any open world game is a great experience, because of the freedom. What does he want GTA Max Payne 3 style? That would suck... linear games get boring fast and in the last years most games are like that "Go from point A to point B, watch the cutscene move to C destroy the enemy, once you arrive to D wait for another cutscene and you'll arrive to E.

Games decreased a lot compared to some years ago, before even linear games were more challenging, now it's more like a movie we watch more the game then we actually play it and when you do is the same crap over and over. With an open world game we can do whatever we want, when we want, where we want.

I would be disappointed if V was like IV to be honest, I'm happy it will be more like SA.

The guy who wrote this was either an FPS fan or an idiot... or both.

1. No Niko

 

Well, on one hand you could say Niko was a grown-up version of a GTA character. So deep, so complex yadeyadeyade. On the other hand you could say he was a miserable war criminal who is a really bad person. You can't cut out the stuff he said "sold people" "smuggled people". Despite the stuff he did during the war.

But let's not hold his past against him. What did he do? He came to America for two reasons. Firstly he wanted to escape from Ray Bulgarin and secondly he seeked revenge.

On his big bad revenge trip he dragged everyone who actually cared about him with him. He screws Roman's life just like that.

And he is a bitch. Everyone's bitch. Niko had a price tag on him and he was cheap to get. He did pretty much everything for money. He never even tried to become more powerful even though that would've helped him reach his goals.

His obsession made him weak. He had a bad character and I didn't like him at all. I enjoyed the game because I always relfect myself on the characters and kind of blend out the bad parts as long as I play. But looking back I hated that guy.

 

2. Faffing around

Well, man got a point. But he is right: It's just a game. He enjoys GTA for other reasons. I want to be a criminal smart guy who is also a badass to go from rags to riches. Buying houses, expensives cars and so on is nothing Rockstar would make fun of. It's rather the attitude of most or some rich people at least. They are sh*tty about their wealth, they are greedy they don't give back yadeyadeyade. If you don't like that stuff that's fine. Be a commi, whatever. But you buy this game you are part of the system. The author of those 10 points article is himself participating part of the system. Driving a prius and voting democrates doesn't change that fact.

So if I want to build a little empire in LS and Blaine Country and shoot people in the streets for fun then it's just a game to me. Nothing more.

 

3. "Carmageddon"

He didn't play the game. But I send prayers to heaven every day that driving isn't arcady and not like in MCLA because that was plain dumbed down. By the videos we've seen so far one could say they improved GTA IVs driving or they dumbed it down. Nothing I saw I would call completely arcady or completely realistic. After all nobody really wants a driving simulator. It should be realistic but you can't have simulated cars and driving without a driving wheel and pedals. Just play GT5 with controller and then with a good wheel+pedals. It's like day and night.

So I hope they did the right thing.

 

4. Roman, I'm busy

He didn't play the game. Who knows how friends are gonna work. The annoying phone calls were what they were: Annoying. I hope this "feature" won't appear. Having a friendship network is nice and not caring should have consequences but annoying phone calls are not the right way to implement that.

 

5. Sandbox

That's something I don't understand. Sandbox is great as long as quantity comes with quality. And that's a thing that is pretty much proven one of the most important things R* cares about. They said they set every tree by hand. I believe them. And what we've seen speaks for itself: It IS indeed a masssive, diverse world.

 

6. Tired Celebrity Targets

I don't agree. He overestimates the effect the setting. The game is about heists not about celebrities.

 

7. Must-play Multiplayer

GTA V is a game and GTA Online is a game. It shares most of the stuff but Rockstar Games seems to be one of the last ones who actually think a game can be great by just having an awesome single player mode.

I think I'd be completely happy without the MP but as it seems awesome even for someone who usually doesn't enjoy MP that much I think they did a great job. I'm looking forward to it.

 

8. Back to the hospital

No comment. This is just GTA and dying should be punished. Waking up at the hospital is the right punishment.

 

9. Graphic bla bla

Oh please show me all those games with stunning graphics PLUS everything that a GTA features except for the graphical aspects. Amuse me.

 

10. Lad's mag argument

Afraid of some exposed breasts? GTA V is a satirical view on modern western society. And our society is obsessed with sex. So making fun of it or exaggerate those things is just what they should do...

 

After all I don't think the man has a point. He just randomly enjoys GTA for other reasons than most people.

I could give you a hundred reasons why GTA V will be awesome but I what the hell should that be for...everyone knows this game is gonna be the best game ever created on modern console (let's just take Zelda OOT out of it).

Im glad R* dropped IV it felt too enclosed and dark after san andreas. But still had alot of cool stuff but not enough to hook me. San andreas was amazing so I cant wait to get gta5.

 

Im also very happy that they released it on ps3 not one bit do I think cits rushed they promised us a new gta title this gen so thank them for keeping it. I do hope after a year or so of ps4 theyll release a tweeked version or gta5 with added map and beefed up engine and more cars.

 

Whoever doesmt buy a ps4 is crazy at the price there coming out at so lets hope gta 5 comes with some episodes included.

This is pretty much the reason why I can't stand Saints Row IV, it's simply just way too silly. The game thinks it's funny just because it has aliens, dildos and that... gun... or whatever you call it. But it really just gets silly and childish, it's just like these crappy parody movies like Epic Movie and Disaster Movie. How the hell did this game score so high? I guess it just simply took a completely different turn than GTA, making the games incomparable.

Yeah he is an idiot because none of his reasons made any sense, not before and not even now. If at least he gave any worthy perspectives, but he gave NONE. Specially when he said that Sandboxes were outdated, GTA is a sandbox and the reason why it is so successful, it wouldn't be what it is if it was another linear boring game, that you play and once you done it's over.

10. They don't need that to sell any game. It's proven with the sales of RDR and LA Noire. But it's yet another classic GTA feature. No one likes the idea of being a plumber yet everyone loved to play Mario. It's just part of the game. If you don't like it pick up another game.
