Bad Sport Points

A lot of people seem unclear on what these points are. They ARE NOT player determined. I can't just give someone points. These points are determined by your actions in game. An example is blowing up a players car. The game knows the difference between a players car and a pedestrians car. Points will be allocated when you do stuff like that on an automatic basis.

Did they explain Bad Sports in detail like this somewhere? Or is this a speculation of what it will be?

 

 

I'm about 97% positive this is how it's going to work, based on how it was explained. It's confirmed you automatically gain the points for doing something like blowing up another players car, so there's no way it's player determined.

 

Hmm.. In that case I have a speculation of my own. I posted in GTA Online section the other day:

 

I'm starting to think "bad sport" will be only for people who hack and cheat. There is a passive mode for people who dont want to be killed. They said that a player backstabbing another player to steal all of the money they robbed can create rivalries and we all know what rivals do to each other to get an upper hand.

People will continuously rob other players which will result in PvP. I dont think it will give you a bad rep for doing it, as it seems they kind of support the idea of rivalries and different scenarios of how people will play the game. There will always be mindless killing unless its a friendly freeroam mode. They cant tag everyone with "bad sport" if thats the case.

So if what I say is true and it does mean that hackers and glitchers will be tagged as "Bad Sport" then it will create a player pool of bad sports which will be full of cheaters and hackers, didnt they do something like that for Max Payne MP? That's what it will be I guess, after giving all the freedom AND also giving a choice to go passive, they cant just put a limit on how much killing there will be.

seriously I don't get all the whining about people who hate online cuz of little kids or whatever, I never have a problem with "bad sportsmanship" and if I do I leave the game and find another one... its all about who you CHOOSE to play with, if somebody plays fair add them to your friends list and build a group of people to enjoy the gaming experience with

I used the search feature. Didn't see a thread on the first page about this, so I assume if there was one, it's long gone. The only one close was something about GTA being peaceful.. Which is LOL..

 

Anyway, thoughts on Bad Sport Points? I think it's a great idea. So far, between me and my three other friends IRL that are getting the game on release, we're split 50/50. Two of us think it's good, two of us think it sucks.

 

My reasoning is it brings more to the game. A much better experience since we'll actually be able to do stuff without the fa**ot that runs around with an RPG. Sure, that'll happen still, but not nearly as much I assume.

 

I also hope there is some sort of negative repercussion for X amount of Bad Sport Points, that possibly affect your being able to find a game with players that don't have many. Maybe even a matchmaking penalty if you're out of control with it.

 

Thoughts?

 

Edit - Should you be able to get rid of them after a while? I think yes. After a while of good behavior, they should start going away.

I think this is great... GTA IV has been annoying me lately. Anytime I go into free roam there's cheaters everywhere. They mod the game, make themselves invincible, and go around annoying people. So what I usually do is annoy the f*ck out of those guys by getting explosives and blowing up every car they get into. I'll have no reason to do that in GTA V cause there won't be cheats or mods.

Bad sport is a really bad addition for the simple fact that someone could have a bounty on their head but be being chased by personal vehicle it's not fair
