idk how people can vote single player for longevity over online, I mean if the main story mode offered a fully co-op campaign I would be all for playing the story over and over again, but once I beat the main single player in a GTA game I usually move on... with GTAV all I want to play is co-op and I really hope they have great co-op stuff online... even though GTAV looks phenomenal it still bothers me that they would still make this game single player even with 3 characters why is there no co-op for the main story? it would make the whole experience that much better when your searching for stupid hidden objects, or you find a secret or something

Single player, GTA started with it and always will be the essential core of the franchise. Online is 'just' a great bonus for gamers!

There appears so much to do in the SP alone so also having a heavy featured OM I don't know. I am forward projecting beyond the 2013 here and think that in the end I will play more Online.

Single player like always. There is always something or someone online that can break you out of the immersion. Also, multiplayer relies on other people for the true experience.

Simple, some people play games mainly for online because they want random begavior from other players they can't get from peds, mostly younger audience. Others prefer SP and don't want none of that online stuff as it's too unorganized and hectic (myself included in that group), mostly older audience that got used to singleplayer.

 

So those two groups already know what they will play.

This. Dumb thread. The proportion of players who avoid either single or online as a general principle is quite small compared to people who will at least try both.

You shouldn't have included both as an option. Anyway even though I'm mostly a singleplayer gamer in this case I'll only be playing Online after I finish SP 100% unless Rockstar releases new SP content. I may replay the story sometime in the future though if it has enough replay value.

Single player. I'm not much of a multiplayer type of guy, though I will spend a good bit of time on GTAO with friends, because it does look really fun to play.

The single player aspect of GTA has always been the drive, however I remember during my time spent with GTA 3 my friend and I would take turns on who would drive and who would raise the stars. San Andreas had a "teaser" of multiplayer/co-op that was almost sufficient for those with imagination. Unthankfully due to GTA 4 I have took a disliking upon online so we'll see how it turns out BUT I might have to play online more due to the concept of 100% unless the story is well constructed. It's all got to be worth something so stacking money in online may prevail as you could always pay labour for other players and other things. Whereas in single player you might already own everything but single player is what I want to favor.

as good as GTAO looks, I feel that the 2 weeks we have without it will bump up my single player game time a lot.
