Out of poll options? Definitely Vice City.

But personally, I'd love to see Las Venturas next. SA's story didn't do the city justice. But from gameplay perspective it would be better to have a more geographically varied setting. It wouldn't be bad to have northern California as the setting, with San Fierro as one of the cities, but then again, V is set in California already. Oh well.

Chicago and Detroit on one map with lake between. Just imagine city on the edge, ruined, with people scared to leave their homes and venture further into downtown, full of car carcasses covering the streets. Police helicopter circling around the city and people running scared, trying to not get caught in the ray of light. This could suppress atmosphere of GTA III with constant danger and lack of anything that would still resemble everyday life. And on the other side of the lake, city full of people and cars, where everybody knows what's on the other side of the lake, but nobody wants to look or talk about it.

Setting GTA in place like this could push it on unknown waters, which were merely licked by the GTA III. It would be crossover between Manhunt (Carcer City) and any other GTA.

LA was done twice, Miami was made three times and New York at least 4. We need something fresh this time and since GTA set outside the US will lose its style, Chicago and Detroit are the places to go.

They shouldn't have a new location until they've done all the others; Vice City, San Fierro, Las Venturas and maybe Anywhere City (you know, it could be good to see a completely fictional city based on itself).

Just why? it would get repetitive...

A snowy place, or at least set on winter would be quite interesting. Hell, maybe even with different seasons if the new technology can handle it.

Here is my guess (maybe you hate it, maybe you love it!) :

2013 - Grand Theft Auto V

2014 - Grand Theft Auto: San Fierro and Grand Theft Auto: Las Venturas. Also available as "GTA: Episodes from San Andreas". And a hand-held game.

- Liberty City for GTA:Online

2015 - Whole San Andreas for GTA:Online

2016 - Wait for GTA 6 begins!

2017 - Grand Theft Auto 6 (Taking place in Vice City) + Vice City for GTA:Online

2018 - No ideas

2019/2020 - London for GTA:Online

And thus the GTA 6 Section begins.

Not yet, wait till deepthroat shows up. And dissapears. This is the second GTA that he shows up and something happens. 3 months before GTA V's announcement, he posted a weird stuff. GTA IV, some time before its announcement he did the same.

But Miami has never tasted the 3D world

Vice City/Havana Cuba

Heavy emphasis on drug dealing (Similar to how heist are the main focus in V)

Sounds fun and cool

I think that poll is thinking small. Next GTA should have the continental United States, as imagined by Rockstar games. In case someone has missed this, I would like you guys to meet the Map of "The Crew" from Ubisoft:

The_Crew_Map_of_USA.png

The size? Let's hear a word of hype from Edge magazine:

Squeezed into this distorted version of the US are 7,000 miles of road, 15 cities – six of which are comparable in size to Liberty City in GTAIV – and 15 million individual objects. It’ll take you roughly an hour and half to drive from the East Coast to the West Coast, and four hours to circumnavigate the entire map.

If they manage to pull that off and that is not your typical Ubi PR bullsh*t I will be expecting GTAVI to have a map at least half of that size, given their usual attention to details.

I read somewhere they're not gonna change the country it's based in so it'll always be in the USA based on a satirical view of one of the major cities

That's kind of true really only for the GTA:III era universe, as with IV & V what we've seen is not so much a satirical viewpoint but almost more of a barely alternate reality viewpoint. Basically the days of a satirical GTA were killed with the launch of IV and were further buried with V continuing the same serious/realistic tone that IV had. This is also the reason I don't think we'll see another GTA game (atleast a main game) set in anything other then "present" time.

While I selected other (for reasons I'll explain below), the one from the past I would like to see again is Vice City, however I'm also not sure how that would work because atleast to me what made Vice City special was that 1980s coked-up your life is based on every cheesy 80s movie vibe which you wouldn't have in a modern day Vice City. I haven't been to Miami ever but from what I know of it from reading things online or watching TV it's basically like LA but more gay, more coke instead of weed & more Cubans & Puerto Ricans instead of Mexicans & Asians.

Dubai

The UAE is a very tempting prospect; big cities, big money, fast cars, interesting mix of American culture/customs with Middle Eastern culture/customs, it could work and could work very well. They could even keep the protag as an American, maybe he went over to work for some big company and got drug into the seedy underbelly of Middle Eastern crime rings (in the UAE that involves mainly drug running & money laundering). Could also maybe have some terrorist tie-ins (example being they try to recruit the protag) though that could have a huge backlash from the USA & the UAE alike.

I would like it to be different, something new.. Maybe Brazil?

Brazil would be cool, though the big issue that I see with it is that English is not the first/main language. I mean yes it's a game so they could make everybody speak English but IDK that would kind of take away from it.

They shouldn't have a new location until they've done all the others; Vice City, San Fierro, Las Venturas and maybe Anywhere City (you know, it could be good to see a completely fictional city based on itself).

A completely fictional city(ies) would be amazing, however part of the modern GTA formula (including the GTA:III era stuff especially from VC on) is selling the game based on it's real life setting and with a completely fictional city the best you could do is "it's their city, it's your city, it's everybodies city, but it's nobodies city at all." and I'm not sure how well that would work.

The prospect of London or the UK in general is not as boring as a lot of people may think, especially if the game would delve into the darker side of the London crime scene which involves human trafficking/sex slaves as well as getting into the whole Ireland vs Northern Ireland conflict.

Personally I would like to see Australia, not really sure what Crime is like there or even their Politics or current economy however I've always had this strange obsession with wanting to move to Australia and well walking around a fictional recreation in a video game is probaly as close as I'll ever get unless one of these days I actually win the Powerball instead of just donating my $3 to it haha.

The good thing about Iranian, Saudi and UAE cities is that they aren't in war, unlike Iraq and Pakistan or oters, but Dubai's recreate will be small like gta:vc. Dubai would not be a good choice in Middle East. But I think Karaj (an Iranian not-so-famous city) would be a funny Middle-Eastern choice. Criminals in the south parts of the city, then fancy people in north parts of the city. Hills and Mounts, and bridges and towers. And of course it's a big city, big enough for an extremely fun GTA!

By the way, I recommend everyone to stop talking about Anywhere City. Anywhere City was a fun city when they released GTA 2 in 1999(not sure), but not fun now, because it should be futuristic and a futuristic theme doesn't fit GTA, at least now.

UK, Wales area.
Like Llanelli area would be kind of cool.
Or Trimsaran which is a MASSIVE area in Wales.
With a HUGE forest, an airport, fields, parks and city...well town actually...not sure how
big it is to call it a city. lol....But it's a neat area. And very different if R* got their
hands on it. Hmmm Or Pontardawe which is pretty big, a LOT of Forest, super old buildings.
Really cool. :]

Exactly! Unfortunately, when he started "Genesis" I wasn't a user and I was just an explorer in these forums. They were really exciting days: "Genesis", "the V mystery", random rumors and leaks...

Everytime we get close to a new GTA game, internet transforms into a open-world game in which you have a simple mission: find more info!

I don't think they'll use anything like Chicago or Detroit. These locations are not as recognizable in the media as LA or New York. I mean, everyone knows what they are and they are major American cities but if you ask people around the world about them they wouldn't be able to name as many landmarks or districts as in case of those more recognizable cities.

I've mentioned this other times before. Seattle was apparently quite dangerous in the 80s and I guess also early 1990s. They could set the game in the past.

@others, I don't think places like Wales would be too interesting for a GTA game.

I'm thinking Tokyo wouldn't be such a bad destination. A combination of many things, such as, mods, big bank businesses, add corrupt sh*t, and its a big f*cking city with a lot to do. Either that place or San Diego.
