SHARKEM
yup new citys will be added hopefully sooner than later. The Benz said he wants a gta world. if the new cities can have their own single player mode too that would be awesome and i doubt ppl would grumble if they were 30 quid or more. zainzombie
Isnt it obvious?.. Add more content for GTA Online. Other than micro transactions. They are even planning to add other maps to it, how much do you think it will cost? Everything they add, it will cover its development cost. In short, the additional content will support GTA Online. ADropInTheOcean
If there are micro-transactions I'm gonna be so pissed. But then again, I doubt Rockstar would make something stupid like that. Take in account IV servers have been active since release, a bunch of people still play it and there's only been 2 single-player focused DLC's and no micro-transactions whatsoever. LeFox
Let me put it in this way... If they a lot of copies, they will end up with more money than they used to make the game. They keep doing that, and they get richer, and richer, and richer. Guess what money was used to make GTA V? Our money from buying GTA IV, RDR, MP3, and LA Noire. And guess where a portion of the money R* gets from us buying GTA V? That is correct, GTA VI. Or RDR2 or LA Noire 2, or MP4. Maybe all.
RisingLegend
How bout sales during Christmas and Birthdays? The game is going to be consistently being sold.
reform
The online side of things is just a great way to reuse assets and stop people from trading in the game once they're done with single player anyway.
Nillus
It's a P2P game with cloud-based storage of settings, property, matchmaking and achievements. I highly doubt that it generates more activity than a simple online forum. Gameplay traffic isn't routed through their servers, it's not like World of Warcraft. Besides that, Rockstar is already running these servers for the Social Club service. reform

iDope
Answer this question, how are they paying for GTA 4 servers right now. It's because of the DLC and other games they make. Thanks, iDope

Thanks, iDope Nope. It's because there are no significant overheads with p2p. Nillus explained it pretty well. Gdog
I wouldn't mind paying a monthly subscription fee to play GTAO. Of course that's if it's any good. I usually avoid any games that you need to pay a subscription for but GTA isn't just any game.
TrevorFranklinsBitch
When new cities are added they're obviously going to charge, probably around £15 for each city (each city will have new content with in so its worth it) imagine the amount of money they will generate from that? 100's of millions. So thats how they will pay.

Thanks, iDope Nope. It's because there are no significant overheads with p2p. Nillus explained it pretty well. That's not all true, there is many reason why game companies have GSP host servers for them and cloud based gaming is complete sh*t. GSP "Game Server Provider" ie: Gameservers, Sleek Servers, and Fragnet (plus many more) In little terms I use to host servers and sell them, it takes more then what many of you thinks. Major equipment is used everyday like: Minimum Server Specifications: - Intel Quad Core or AMD Sex Core Processors - 8GB DDR3 1333MHZ Memory - 7200 RPM SATA II and III Hard Drives - Gigabit Private Network Cards - Over 10Gbps Backbone in each location! - Window Server 2008 R1 and R2 - Monthly Hard Disk Defrag and System Check This was pulled from sleekservers, but is mainly what I used as well. Also Tier 3 internet. The game "Counter-Strike: Source" a 9 year old game requires dedis, because cloud based server are unstable. Note: GameServers, says they have cloud based, but what they mean is that you can control the server anywhere. What Nillus is saying is like the "Microsoft Cloud", which is sh*t and unstable. sutalu
Rockstar still have the servers on for the GTA IV online, and the GTA IV don't have DLC... (but surely we will have DLC in GTA V) In other hand, Rockstar makes money not only with GTA. They make other games, and part of the benefits can go to the GTA V Online. Adecool
um, maybe with all of the money they make from GTA5? kind of a silly question.
Backfire6
Just like the other thread. Will never happen, would make no sense. And they'd basically would be stealing from us at that point if we've already been playing it for year or more and then all of a sudden they force us to pay??? No...I don't see it ever happening. Elemental716
Cost 265 million to make. They will make well over 500 million in the first week alone. DLC will bring in much more money. I also wouldn't be surprised if you can buy in game credit with real cash.
GTAVTheHeat
Micro transactions, now is that the same as DLC or no? Can someone clarify the difference?
zalanith
easy - they can use Valve f2p module (not saying they should go f2p - but , you know) they let community CREATE content for the game(mostly cosmetics - heavily monitored) - make it have different rarities , the items always have small chance to drop at any game mode beside freeroam (award the player) , but player can buy the item through store too(cash - gain here) and drop crates - so interested ppl will buy the key at cash shop. (no force on stuff - no sh*t like p2w ) meh simply go play TF2 or some DotA 2 and you will get some idea how that module will work. dont go p2w - pay ??$$ get this kind of weapon that only can get via cash shop , will fail miserably subscribe thingy dfnately destroy the game. CarRamrod224
As someone else has said....microtransactions. I really think many gaming companies are embracing this.
RX2000
They'll probably sustain it the same way they've been sustaining GTA IV's & RDR's online all these years........
gamerzworld
Keep in mind online services for the consoles GTAO is launching on right now will shut down in just a few more years.
