Rockstar should be charging for GTAO

Oh they will start charging for it at some point, but this kind of service lives or dies with membership. You want to get as much people in as possible first. If you charge them right off the bat, you run the risk of a fiasco like APB.

I understand what your saying but hell nooooo. We pay good $$$$$ for it and it´s not in my intress if they make it like one more game.

Anyone that wouldn't pay a consistent fee for GTAO needs to re-evaluate their life. Gaming life, I mean. R* would be offering the greatest gaming experience to ever exist for a small fee each month (meaning you would never need another video game again), but no. Instead, R* are offering the greatest gaming experience to ever exist FOR FREE.

I'm happy that GTAO is free, but I think (and hope) that R* charge people for it later down the line. So people get the feel for it, and realize just how amazing it is, and then BAM, they have to support R* (which will enable them to make better games in the future).

I disagree with you 100%. The first thing that you have said that's wrong is that we are getting the best gaming experience for free. IT ISN'T F*CKING FREE. I'm not sure if you haven't already figured this out, but gta online IS PART OF GTAV. It's not a separate game, everybody is paying at least 60$ for the gta v, online is simply a part of the game.

Second, you said that we should "support" rockstar by paying a small fee each month so they can make better games in the future. ROCKSTAR IS MAKING MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of dollars of of this single game alone, and you think they need even more money? I don't think you understand the value of money.

It's simple really, R* are one of, if not the only developers left who are still passionate about games over the greed for money in the industry.

Plus, those 700 missions a lot of them will be cut and paste re-hashed missions in new settings/skins (which is perfectly fine, not bashing just making a point) it's not an mmo.

Lots of content is going to be comunity made.

R* don't need to charge, but could at a reasonable price I'm sure most wouldn't mind if the cost was met with content equal to the value.

well isn't this what makes Rockstar one of the best company's out there? Giving us all this, for free!

Just because you get something good doesnt mean it should cost you anything, I think it's really disturbing that other companies charge you for wanting to play a game

Oh god please no. That's like saying "I can't believe this sandwich is only 1 dollar!" Then proceed to give 20 dollars because it's so good.

exactly this.

How about you make a donation to Rockstar huh? If you are rich and feel like wasting money. Just write them a personal cheque. This can be locked now.

Don't give them ideas. Why make a thread like this? Don't want to pay 15 a month on top of other charges.

I simply cannot believe we are getting what can essentially be described as a completely separate game - for FREE!!!

Just take a minute to digest exactly what we are getting in the online package:

-Over 700 new missions. That's right...SEVEN HUNDRED!!! 7-0-0!!!

-The game is going to be continually expanded over time

-So much activities to do with friends, I don't even know where to begin!

When I look at companies such as EA, who charge for an online experience which is mediocre at best, it just increases my love and admiration for R* (not that it needed increased in the first place). I'm not complaining here - it's great we're getting it for free - but I would've happily paid a subscription fee for GTA Online, given the amount of content you get for your buck.

They already charge us buying the game and with micro payments, mate...

They don't give it us for free we pay £40 for the game which should have had online included initially but they decided to release it later. £40 is enough for me

you are right they should, but they are not. Though after hearing their ambitions for the product...there is no way they can keep it free for as long as they run it. At some point they will have to start charging for it, unless they can keep their costs down and simply run it from their revenue, but I doubt that will happen. The very idea of it, it will at some point cost money for the consumer.

I really don't care, I would pay it if I got enough content for my money, which Rockstar always guarantees, but we are most likely going to see DLC packs, both free and payable to expand the game, Rockstar doesn't need 'developing money' like new studios that haven't really made big games before and need money to not go bankrupt.

Oh man, APB was such a disappointment. I followed the development of that game for years and then they totally, totally screwed the players with that absolutely retarded payment model.

To the OP: I can see where you're coming from, we are indeed getting an incredible amount of material for the price we're paying, that's for sure. I don't think your comment deserved quite the negative backlash you've been receiving - but I am also on the side where I definitely don't want to pay monthly lol. That being said, I think they're going to be FINE for money for server upkeep just based on game sales, and if they add DLC packs, character models, etc etc ala RDR, they will be fine.

This. There's no way they can make 700 original missions.

Why would anyone ever want to pay for something that they are already getting for free? I mean what is this, a humanitarian cause?
