Rockstar should be charging for GTAO

just because some games like cod only have the shooting aspect without online missions, doesn't mean it's like extra content. it's basically just an online version of GTA V.

At some point it would be idiotic for them to NOT charge something for the online component of the game. The payments that people pump into online games keeps the servers running and the whole infrastructure working.

In the near future the need for server muscle will only increase.

There are too many morons in here for you to be making so much sense.

Erm, it's not free. It's the multiplayer component of GTA V. Coding GTA:O doesn't even take much, it's just GTAV but online, with a few missions. Most of the missions will just be "go here kill these guys" or "steal this" or "steal that". They're not detailed missions with cutscenes like in singleplayer.

700 missions means you're full of crap. They shouldn't charge us for online at all, nor should all these companies that do, it's daylight robbery, you pay £50 for a game and have to pay extra for the whole thing ? Me thinks not. The fact that gta online is free is beautiful and reminds me of the time when gaming companies weren't run by malevolent, incapable, greedy douchebags.

Look what happened with Star Wars: The Old Republic for being subscription based and look what's going to happen to The Elder Scrolls Online?

It won't work for GTAO, R* was clever on releasing it for free.

If it didn't "take much", then surely it would be releasing on September 17th instead of October 1st, right? I'm no coder, but there's definitely more to it than just taking missions from SP and making them MP oriented.

Pay? We're already paying 60 bucks for the game. I think that's enough for R*, they know they'll get their revenue for the game very quick!

I agree. Some people just have too much money. Their willingness to pay more for a product that is better free makes us pay way too much for too many products in this world.

The subscription model is a dying breed. Pretty much every MMO has gone free to play in some form with mainly one exception WoW. So yea, smart idea let's have a subscription fee for GTA Online. No, DLC or the "cash shop" is where the money is at.

Exactly. A bunch of spoiled kids who can't appreciate blood and sweat that goes into games from devs such as R*.

"Rockstar should be charging us for GTA Online"

No they shouldn't. I am already paying $60 for the game and $60 for XBL. This is the most absurd statement I've ever heard.

I simply cannot believe we are getting what can essentially be described as a completely separate game - for FREE!!!

Just take a minute to digest exactly what we are getting in the online package:

-Over 700 new missions. That's right...SEVEN HUNDRED!!! 7-0-0!!!

-The game is going to be continually expanded over time

-So much activities to do with friends, I don't even know where to begin!

When I look at companies such as EA, who charge for an online experience which is mediocre at best, it just increases my love and admiration for R* (not that it needed increased in the first place). I'm not complaining here - it's great we're getting it for free - but I would've happily paid a subscription fee for GTA Online, given the amount of content you get for your buck.

go f*ck yourself you rich bitch i don't want to spend $500 on a game no matter whether its GTA V or GTA 7 we play games for fun and most of us don't know how difficult for some peoples mange to buy a game.look around you.world is suffering from crisis.you need to grow up you sound like 12 years old kid who shop online with his father's credit card without his acknowledgement.you need to grow up don't get over excited its just a game in a year or two you'll forget what GTA V really is.

OP, you can clearly see that you're probably the only one willing. Everyone realizes that Rockstar could be charging us, and we're all glad they're not (yet). We don't Rockstar turning into EA; we've paid for our games, let us get the experience we paid for (and note: most didn't just pay the base $60, but instead $80 or more than double the original cost for CE at $150).
