McTinman
just wondering if I'm the only one. TTWO hit $27 when GTAIV was released in 2008. Stock is around $18/share now, 8 days away from the release on the cusp of the biggest release ever and the PS3/XB communities have had 5 years of user growth since 2008. I bought around $18.50 so if you think you're anxious about the game, add that anxiety to a $7000 investment

McTinman
I bought 375 shares @ $18.59 for $6900 Oldswitch asked: "How long do you plan keeping hold of them?" I'd planned on holding up to a week after release, or for however long the mainstream media hype up what I predict will be record smashing sales. Then again, might be worth holding until multiplayer is released? then a bit after that TTWO has their earnings call, but GTAV sales won't be factored in. Sorry, Rising, can't sell you half Good luck to us both Buxton. I'm a little worried about this Syria nonsense and its impact on the market, but come release day and at least 48 hours after it, I can't see it not being good for 20%+
kmanmx
You do know that every book on buying shares will tell you share price is based on whats going to happen not what has happened. Atleast in general. The share price will go up on the prediction of 25 Million sales. Unless traders doubt this figure and don't believe them, the share price shouldn't shoot up too much if they confirm sales have met expecatations. Leevikingpin
If you sold the 375 shares a week after release how much would you earn?
kmanmx
If you sold the 375 shares a week after release how much would you earn? If people could predict the stock market weeks in advanced they would be incredibly wealthy. Edited September 8, 2013 by kmanmx
McTinman
You do know that every book on buying shares will tell you share price is based on whats going to happen not what has happened. Understood, I think this type of thing bucks the trend a bit anyway. GTAV won't be making any real mainstream media headlines until release day, so it won't be until then that the general public raise an eyebrow to it, I believe this type of thing is far more re-active than proactive (with the exception of a few keen gamer/investor combos) besides in the theory of "whats going to happen not what has happened." if the first days sales/preorders numbers show results (what has happened) people will want to jump on the bandwagon to cash in on forecasted sales for the next quarter (what is going to happen)
truthful
I've been watching the shares for a few months now. Two months ago they were @ $16...today they are @~$18 Slow growth than expected..I'll pass.

And that is the beauty of the stock market. There are many ways the situation could play out, whoever guesses right wins. So many things could happen. Sales might miss expecations and share prices could crash. Sales might double expectations in the first few days and share prices rocket. I'd advise everyone to be careful though. If buying stocks in publishers before every popular game release was a sure fire way to make a lot of money, everyone would do it. Good luck!
