Online's delayed launch.

I don't know If anyone else has said this yet but I completely respect and understand Rockstars decision to launch 2 weeks later than the actual game. A few PC titles such as SimCity, Diablo 3 ect have had awful launches when it comes to servers being involved and I think It's actually a genius move that in those 2 weeks they can see how many copies are sold and prepare their servers for the right amount of users.

 

Rockstar are far, far above any other developer out there.

I didn't know nothing about the online mode nor the delay regarding MP. I'm thinking the same thing as most to be honest. I feel delaying the MP for a couple of weeks is good, I just hope when it goes get released it doesn't have massive problems giving the time they've had. But problems pop up everywhere and you should expect anything and everything.

i got a little scared reading this..thought they maybe delayed it from the original delayed release...phew...i like that they are doing it this way. I will be able to maybe complete the story instead of being preoccupied with online

He's right. This forum has a pretty poor community, but it's to be expected. Happens with most major releases. Throw a bunch of children into one room and tell them to wait a year for something, and tensions rise.

 

I agree with the OP, but for different reasons. I've wanted to say this for a while, so here goes- I think the delay is good because something that always happens in multiplayer modes is that while many people are playing singleplayer, theres those few hundred (or thousand, maybe several thousand) guys that go straight to online. They get a serious advantage over everyone who wanted to play singleplayer first. I think the 2 week delay is excellent for letting everyone start on even footing. I'm not saying, of course, that 2 weeks is enough to do everything singleplayer has to offer- It's just enough time for you to be temporarily satisfied so you can jump into multiplayer.

I love it so much. It gives me plenty of time to get used to the game mechanics, and the story without feeling to force myself into Online day one.
It also gives me time to explore the map so I'll know a lot of good locations.

In your defense, I had no clue that was why they were doing it and thank you for informing me. I think that's a really valid reason to delay it as well, though I was fine with it before, you just helped me see it from another perspective.

Also, I couldn't agree more. I'm a huge fan of the Uncharted series & The Last of Us, plus I'm currently playing through Jak & Daxter thanks to PS+!

On topic, I'm also glad they decided to launch online two weeks later. Gives us a chance to get used to the game, map etc.

After all the delays i'm just happy to play the game. Waiting for GTAO after getting my hands on my CE time will fly by! Can't wait!!! omg!
