streetsoflossantos
So... how long does it take to drive all around the map? I don't think we've tried to calculate that yet. Lets say that means to make a full circle on the outermost highways, at a constant speed of 100 mph (= 161 kmh). *If* the map is 9.6 by 12 km (= 44.5 sq mi, close to Magic Al's estimate, see here and here), and *if* zombie elvis' highway layout is correct (it's slightly speculative for most parts of the map), and *if* my method of measurement is not too retarded (a string of 277 circles with 100 m diameter, ignoring on- and off-ramps), then... ... it takes about 10 minutes and 20 seconds
AlmightyD
If this is actually true then im f*cking disapointed. smh
LeFox
Didn't IGN already say that it takes an hour to get to the other side of the map? RonDutch
RonDutch
I could swear reading sam or dan houser saying it takes atleast an hour to drive around. Edited September 8, 2013 by RonDutch
revZ
Considering we don't know the full extent of the map yet It's pointless trying to guess this, also you're using a map that's obviously fake.
The Dark Passenger
I circled the GTA 4 map the other day in a speedboat and it took 12 minutes.
creed200569
Omg who cares. The map is huge n there is so much going on n soooo much to do, why does this matter
marcx
depends on how fast you're driving/walking.
6.3 AMG
Now good luck driving at 100 mph constantly. Even 10 minutes is damn long. If you did this in IV, it would take probably 1 minute (at the speed mentioned).
FromBrnoCity
I thought they said one hour, not 10 minutes.
RubberGrip
LOL basing your retarded opinions on a fake map.. i bet u felt really smug that you 'worked out' that calculation as if u made some scientific break through. 10 minutes around a whole map?! LOOL! try doing that in red dead redemption or even san andreas.. you'll get no were in 10 minutes. now f*ck off with ur stupid opinion cuz ur idiotic post really annoyed me Edited September 8, 2013 by RubberGrip AlmightyD
Aeleys
10 minutes is ages, as compared to a few minutes in GTAIV and GTAIV is still plenty big enough to enjoy. But it will be more probably, who knows we have weak information. Edited September 8, 2013 by Aeleys
SlappyPwnsAss
LOL thats not true... it took more than that to drive around GTA IV's map, and GTA V's map its three times bigger so thats impossible.
TheRealBars
Do you guys realize.. that driving for an hour across the map is something even Test Drive Unlimited couldn't do.. and that is one of the largest game worlds i have ever played on! Heck i can go in 10 minutes from Los santos to Las Venturas in SA. Edited September 8, 2013 by TheRealBars

EvilFuture
IGN said it took about an hour to get all the way across the map, and they actually played the game. As someone else mentioned, it seems like Dan or Sam Houser also said the same thing. If that's the case, it might take like 5 minutes to get from one side to the other in a jet, and that is good enough for me. The map is big, why can't we all just realize that? Spider-Vice
One thing I really don't know about all this Mapping LS thing is the scale people are using. I think what's off here is the scale and there might be parts of the map that extend the map even further that we don't know about. They're doing an awesome job but I can't see R* revealing all the map and having people decode it immediately even with the achievements leak, I think they're smarter than that to not do it in screenshots. I feel like there's a chunk of map we haven't seen that will make this quite bigger but don't quote me on that, I haven't followed Mapping LS completely. But one of the screenshots that compared a ped with the mountains and all that just makes me think this is much bigger than what Mapping LS shows. Dzqnn
Bullsh*t... It's about an hour to get from the one to the other side of the map! I remember when Dan Houser said that!
Apex
10 minutes while driving 100mph is huge. Lol at people who think it's gonna take an hour, I'm pretty sure it didn't even take an hour to drive across Just Cause 2. I doubt it's going to take more than 25 minutes at most of driving at a steady pace. Edited September 8, 2013 by DE4TH Remizov
Cinoy
it'll definitely take around 30 minutes considering gta iv took longer than 10, and los santos itself is as big as all of GTA IV...
zzmorg82
I doubt it'll be 10 minutes, more like 15-20 minutes.

Deffpony
Theres no reason for this to have its own thread. You quoted a speculative estimation by another user. the biggest flaw in his estimation is the fact that the map isnt level. Either way we dont know how long it will take.
