antisatan7
Actually, not using your console could mess it up as well. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I'd recommend letting go. Let the universe do what it believes is the right thing to do. If something goes wrong just say f*ck it and hope it went wrong for a good reason. I've worried about the same issue as you are but after much thought those words above are the result. RisingLegend
I just blew out my console to clear it of dust and debri. I have an old fat console myself and it's still going strong. I believe the date on the bottom says it was produced in 2009.

Audiophile
I've barely turned on my PS3 this past month, not because I am "saving" it for V but because I just have no desire to play any other game and as of this week am busier than usual. I've only been turning it on for a few minutes to check PSN and yesterday I cleared up 10 + GB's of HDD space. Which sucks because I was almost done my replay of RDR. That was my goal this summer, to replay GTA IV and RDR. GTA IV is complete (not episodes tho...) and RDR is near-completion. Might give it a go today or tomorrow since I am so close. But honestly, there is no harm in turning it on for a while if you keep it in an open space and it's not heating up. No need to deny yourself gaming just do so without it being on for extended periods of time and heating up. My PS3 is an 80 GB phat manufactured Oct 2008. Sooo....yes, I am worried but I keep it in an open space and I've tilted it in such a way that the portable fan I have blowing cool air towards doesn't hit the vents. I clean it every day to get dust off the body of the PS3. Just take care of it, mang. DaRkL3AD3R
Imagine how I feel I still have a zephyr model Xbox 360 Elite from 2007. I had the old school white one and mine finally sh*t out due to the disc drive acting funny, but it still worked just not as good. I decided to upgrade to the slim just because I didn't deal with it anymore, and I put LOTS of hours on that old school xbox. Daily use of gaming and Netflix. Why is it that only a few people like you have problems with the ps3 when no one else has any problem? Maybe you should use your ps3 properly. zainzombie
Yea as if, if you use it for 8 more days... YLOD is guaranteed... It can happen during the 2nd or 3rd mission. If its gonna happen, its gonna happen. You cant do anything about it. All you can do is keep it clean, ventilated and keep praying it doesnt die atleast until you have completed the story. Prestb97
My Xbox 360 Elite is from 2007, I brought it with me (by vehicle) on a pillow, in a container, from the top of the US, to the bottom. zzmorg82
I just got done playing The Last Of Us earlier this morning, so I'm not worried about my PS3 getting YLOD. I had it since 2008 and it's still running strong.

gta076
Yup. I made a topic about my house getting struck by lightning, and after finally getting my ps3 to work, I'm scared to use it till the 17th. If its gonna stop working again,I'll be damned if its not when I'm playing the greatest game of the generation.
