neato9611
I know GTA is pretty much a week away so new ideas are moot, but I had an idea worth sharing. Given the massive chunk of wilderness accessible to players, it's only natural players will hit the wild in an effort to elude the police. Since Rockstar has worked so extensively on the rural areas of the game, it is only logical that they have adapted law enforcement to continue the pursuit off of paved roads. I already anticipate ATVs and rugged 4x4 police vehicles to replace the road-borne cruisers and bikes that lose their effectiveness offroad. Since it's GTA, we can expect any real confrontation with police to involve Mavericks on our tails as well. However, I feel that a drone or two could really shift the balance and make players feel the weight of being subject of a manhunt. This would blend especially well with five or six star wanted levels. For those skeptical of police using drones, take a look at the Chris Dorner event. I hate using real tragedies in comparison to a video game but the parallels are there. Dorner, a sailor and former LAPD officer, turned his contempt of the department outwards and killed several police officers. After an extensive manhunt and brutal firefight ending in more officer fatalities, law enforcement was given permission to use drones to aid in locating and apprehending felons. Bear in mind, these are not hunter-killer drones that use lethal ordnance to neutralize targets, they are simply used to locate fleeing suspects. I feel this is wholeheartedly appropriate given the new mechanics of each LE unit having an independent line of sight.
Koenigsclown
hmm, i doubt that drones are in, but this would be a good feature for high wanted levels.
