TheEpsilonist
I think this pretty much confirms it. NPC's wouldn't be chased by cops. Most likely a protag. Jumbo Jet in Picture. Awesome!
TyphoonJames
That's not a commercial airliner. It is however, a private jet. But you have a point.

Kihz
This was already confirmed officially though. I'll do some digging to find it. Edit: I either heard it on a GTA V'o clock video or a TypicalGamer video, which both are excellent sources. Edit - I realize now that he meant specifically the Titan. But if R* lets you pilot that one, why not just let you pilot any big plane? I'm sure we'll be able to. LotusRIP
I swear that CVG confirmed in one their GTA V'o Clock videos, when they did the GTA Online hands-on, the Titan was a cutscene only... they stopped and actually said something like "and we have to point out that it was in fact a cutscene that was triggered" Cargo planes... possibly cutscene only. Sorry guys. I hope I'm wrong but. The screenshot above doesn't confirm anything. If screenshots were anything to go by, just take a look at some of IV's screenshots and think about it..... slightly unrelated but there were no paddle boats in IV either Edited September 8, 2013 by LotusRIP

sesamtamam
First of all, jets were seen flown by the player in the gameplay trailer. Second of all, i can´t see how you do the connection to flyable jumbo jets from watching a small jet taking off? On the other hand, there is a photo of trevor flying a jumbo jet... Cargo planes will not be cut scene only and here is why: IGN confirmed after a mission the world will not reset ex... After stealing the TITAN they had too take it to another airstrip and that was the mission over, So it's most likely you will be able to fly the plane after the mission Another source also confirmed you could see Cargo planes in single player landing and taking of from the Military base
norgeek
That's the Shamal in the op, isn't it? Relatively large engine pods, winglets, and a T-tail sets it off from the larger Luxor at least. Very Learjet-ey as mdr279 pointed out. Was surprised by how large even a relatively small plane in this game appears to be. *edit* As for jumbo jets - there IS one in that picture, just above the left-most police cruiser tail light. Compare that to pictures of the Shamal(Lear jet) we've seen, and its pretty much a given that this is the Shamal. OldSwitcheroo
My betting from what I've seen? There'll be just small private jets / cropdusters / single seaters / fighter jets. No commercial / jumbo craft to fly. The map isn't big enough to handle them imo. Anything large (i.e. jumbos) you fly will be part of missions only i reckon. But as you just stated there are nowhere near as many windows, which was implied when I said the configuration was similar to a Lear Jet. Your point is moot. boxmonster

Dog_Bread
Surely a private jet can be any size, as long as it is a jet and owned privately! Of course for practical purposes a smaller jet is preferred, but there's nothing to stop someone owning a private jumbo jet. All this hairsplitting about it is just daft IMO. jamieleng
Well, if the Titan (largest plane in any GTA) is flyable in online multiplayer, then every airborne vehicle is flyable. Upon our arrival, we had a massive shootout with the military at the Titan’s hangar. My teammates covered for me while I jumped in a semi-truck-and-trailer that was blocking the Titan’s escape and moved it. I then ran to the Titan, got in, and held RT (I was playing on Xbox 360). After a few moments the plane’s engines roared to life and the plane began to move. My crew all jumped in and we turned onto the runway and got off the ground before the remaining government cronies could damage the plane too badly. I flew us north – again in awe of the view – and couldn’t quite line the plane up with the Sandy Shores airfield runway on the first try. Or the second. But on the third, I had it looking good, so I clicked in the left thumbstick to lower the landing gear, backed off the throttle and braked a bit, and somehow managed to land the massive bird safely. Success! Neither me nor any of my cohorts died! http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/09/04/10-crazy-awesome-things-i-saw-and-did-in-grand-theft-auto-online Edited September 8, 2013 by jamieleng Found_Again
norgeek
If the titan is based on a C130, it's not the largest plane. A 747 is quite a bit larger.

It's way smaller than the commercial planes or the Antonov look-a-like plane we've seen Trevor driving out in Trailer #2, behind Franklin while he's skydiving (possibly jumped out of it) and the nose picture with the jet which was posted above. The Titan isn't really big, look up the C-130 Hercules it's based on, not that big either.
