I usually just watch a trailer or see a preview for a game and i'm like "cool, that will be fun when it comes out." and i don't think much else on it until a day or 2 before it comes out. However, there have been some exceptions. -San Andreas -IV -ES Oblivion -ES Skyrim (hyped for this more than any other game) -Fallout 3 -Red Dead Redemption -Saints Row 2 (best and only truly great game out of the series, if you ask me) -Driver 3 -Mass Effect these are all games I went ape over when I first heard about them/saw the trailers, and then marked their releases on the calendar, and bought on release day. For some reason it just seems like Bethesda and Rockstar are the only companies making the right kind of games. Too bad their games also take the longest to make! Then just before it came out the GTA V announcement trailer came out and all the hype for Skyrim died. Cant believe its nearly here.
