Nice! Will the security metal detector in the police station behave the same way as in Escobar International or Leaf Links, letting you pass, but without your weapons, as they respawn next to the metal detector?

I hope Frank can implement those features. Maybe BEGINit can do it himself but this task is for them. It would certainly bring the interiors to life, as we've seen with the hospital. Let's see if we can get a response or we'll just wait and see when it's released :)

More on cars: Johnny is fitting to make some trucks, a BF injection, a Mesa Grande replacement, a Bloodring Banger and Zebra cab on top of his Firebird for us. We'll see if he's able to finish all of that, but it would certainly be great if he does. For now, he's got the slots for those cars. Facundo is working on a Manana replacement for us (which looks great from some previews he sent me) and a Greenwood is in consideration. The Issi is cut because months went by and I never got the textures for it, so I didn't make damage parts. On the other hand, Facundo's car is too great to turn down so the slot was given to him. I'll contact Leonazix about his Barracks and Rhino soon.

I really love what you've been doing with the map, Speccy! As well as some of the vehicles (i.e. the Bulldozer). They're very well done and fit the rest of the game perfectly, they also give the game a Stories feel, which I think is the perfect atmosphere for this type of mod.

 

I'm glad with how and what many people have contributed to the mod, they've also done really good work they definitely deserve more praise for. Braindawg especially, with his peds.

 

I'm personally very excited for the release of this mod, whenever that'll be. I can't wait to see what BEGINit does with the script. :)

I have a question, Since I am a noob at understanding how memories and other stuff works, I have a problem. When a missions has more than a few actors or cars or objects or stuff going on, the game does not load traffic or pedestians. It's ok when like 2 or 3 actors are created, but if there are 8... 10... or more (actors/cars/objects) VC becomes a ghost town. Is there a way to fix it?

It looks good, but you could lower the poly count a tad, since it looks a little too HQ to be a Vice City car. Js

One good reason why I can't lower the polycount is it will ruin the structure of the front and as for Speccy he told me it looks fine the way it looks, But once it gets a coat of VC bodymap and all that I think it will blend in nicely.

My take on it is that you could decrease the poly count without ruining the front. You would have to weld some vertices manually, without using a modifier. Here's a (very) rough sketch of how I would have drawn the faces. My sketch is messy as some faces are drawn as quads and others triangles but the basic idea would be to eliminate lines which are not essential. You'd have to experiment with it to find the right amount of detail.

I really love your design, though. If you prefer to continue in the current fashion, I'm fine with that too. But I'd be willing to help you optimize it if you'd accept my help at any point - I guarantee no noticeable compromise in quality. However, I think there's no need to fuss about it for the meanwhile.

 

For now, we should let Johnny finish the model and then, he can decide if he wants to have it optimized or not. I can already say with full confidence that this is a car I will not reject :)

I don't think it's too HQ. This car is still in early stage and after it will finally receive vc interior with this very realistic steering wheel and vc body texture no one will say it has better quality than rest.

The Walton looks weird with the Benson back on it. If you want to do something new with the Walton, either put an older looking box/frame on it (did the box parts extend over the cab back in the 1950s) or make the Walton into a pickup.

There were some trucks with a box like this but it seems like these were not very common and mostly moving vans.

Anyway here is the Walton with a simple box. I also tried to a make an HD version with the '55 GMC 550 from "The Man in the High Castle" in mind (but it still has some flaws especially around the running boards).

No clue unfortunally but I guess if there was an easy fix for this problem R* would have fixed it in San Andreas.

About BEGINIt's problem, i'm going to test this out to see if it is just him, or maybe its an actual bug.

Since the car is about 50% done now I thought I'd might share a picture with you fellas but with it's mirror.

And don't mind the shading I will fix that once I'm done with the model.
