Just like when GTA: LCS PC Edition was first ever released to public. Without a doubt this will happen. But I think it's unavoidable. This project is so ambitious and so much effort were put in, so it will be a strange choice to limit the audience to one forum. It's like making a good looking statue and keeping it in your basement. And the pre-release promotion may help to gain more audience. Also look at this thread now - it's a sh*tposting babbling at it's finest, and it will probably stay that way. Somehow the word was already spread and half the thread are people asking for the release date and half the thread tells them to calm down, the thread is not the constructive convention it used to be. I think putting the proper readme and FAQ and ignoring complete degenerates will ease the wave a beat.

-Anti- 263 Posted April 2 please port to PSP because I don't have PS Vita and it's too expensive!!! and when is the release date or is the mod dead??? jokes aside I am stil working on some cars for Speccy and just finished my first entirely sratch-made car. It is inspired by the '86 Testarossa from Miami Vice and will replace the FBI Washington. I think it's a nice addition to the law enforcement vehicles of VC. Hope you like it. April Fools is a day that you can't trust anyone. Hope to play it this month. The radar seems too small for a PS Vita screen. The PlayStation buttons can be from GInput. Is it me or is the screen a bit green when it fades from black? The fingers on the PS Vita do apparently change in color and illumination according to the "gameplay" on the screen. The screen also reflects the light from the ceiling of the room that the video was recorded inside of. For all we know, Silent could be playing a video on the PS Vita from a previous gameplay done on a computer with GInput. Will the original post be updated with anything like the vehicles you plan to have for any releases? You could at least put your latest official screenshots if you want. BEGINit 1,095 Posted April 9 (edited) What's up! There are more and more inquiries about this mod. Is it dead? Why no release? Why it's taking so long? First of all, I'm glad that the interest in this mod is still there even if it's being under developement for over10 years!!!! I think in some way I kinda owe you an explanation why it's taking so long. Those who follow the mod since the begining pretty much know all the ups and downs. Those who don't may find some interesting insights about the road to SoV. So this is it. The story of Shine o' Vice. So I began working on SoV immediately after the release of the first GTA Frosted Winter version back in 2007! At that time I called it Shiny Vice City. I wanted to do something new, something original. So I decided to make something, that looked very original and yet ambitious for GTA game - non linear story. A game where player's choice would have consequences, where depending on weather player passes or fails missions, different outcomes would happen, different missions would be unlocked, etc. And of course - multiple endings. So I began working on thet. You could call it SoV version 1. I intruduced Shiny Vice City to GTAF back in 2008, experienced delays to 2009 and then it happened. The infamous hard drive crash. HDD crashed that wiped out the game. The only backup I had was an early version of Shiny Vice city. I lost maybe 60 to 70 percent of the entire progress. That was a huge hit and made me loose my will to continue the mod for a while. BTW, the funny thing is that I believe that I've never shared the reason why my PC crashed. It was lightning. Yep, a lightning struck a nearby lightning rod and it fried most of the devices that were curently plugged in. So...ummm.... God? Anyway, while on a frustration break, I looked back at my Frosted Winter, looked at the feedback and made a decision to update FW, because of it's subpar quality. And I did. I made improvements to missions, briefs, map and re-released Frosted Winter sometime arround 2010. While working on FW, I started enjoying modding again and decided to go back to Shiny Vice City and start redoing it. Since I had to redo the majority of the game I could call it SoV version 2. But unfortunatelly, after spending a lot of time at it, a revelation came. I realised that the non linear story and gameplay was not a good way to do GTA after all. First of all, it was the frustration of having to keep in mind so many variables, so many possible choices while coding missions and other stuff. Second, I started realising that among multiple endings some may have been so frustrating, that instead of replaying the game the player may just shut it down and not bother. So I made a decision to scrap this whole non linearity altogether. But that men I had to redo the game once again. But this time there was another thing. Back then I was still using the old outdated Barton Waterduck's Mission Builder while many cool kids were using this new Sanny Builder. So I decided to port the script from MB to SB while redoing the game. I did not want to screw everything up so I decid to flex my brain muscles with SB first. I chose to do it on a VC mod called Liberty City - basically gta3 on VC engine. I started learning Sanny Builder and experimenting on Liberty City. I was making mission after mission until I realised I'm basically making a new game So I thought "let's go with it" and in 2012 I introduced Perils of Liberty City. So at that moment I was mostly concentrated on POLC. Unfortunatelly I was constantly bumping into the LC mod bugs so scripting for POLC was a bit frustrating. Untill one day I decided to pospone POLC indefinitely and put my concentration back on Shiny Vice City. So now that I had learned Sanny Builder I decided to start redoing the game once again. This time on a different mission builder. I also decided to rebrand the mod from Shiny Vice City to Shine o'Vice. A lot of things had to be redone so you could call this So'V version 3. I started this back in 2013. It is mostly then when I started colaborating with modellers such as Sal, Kalvin, Braindawg, Speccy and others. Everything since 2013 was going pretty much smoothly. But you have to keep in mind other things. Outside the modding community. During the last 10 years I started my studies, I finished my studies. I started my residency, I finished my residency. I started working. I started my own small businees. I started a familly... So less and less time I could spend on So'V. Unfortunatelly I've also started fancying the ide of Ultimate Winter Mod - a combination of Frosted Winter, Snow City and Liberty TwentyTen. So I started working on that too. I ended up on working at two big mods at the same time with a limited time I could spend. So 2013-2018 were the era of mysterious BEGINit's disappearances and reappearances. Eventually I released the Frosted Winter's Ultimate Winter Mod edition. I had to face the fact of high probability of not finishing So'V anytime soon. So I followed recomendations and decided to share the entire mod with other developers. Mainly Speccy, who I found very interesting to work with. I shared the mod about a year ago and let others finish my work. After this I became more of a watcher who watched the progress. A few months ago, Speccy shared his version of act I of So'V. Basically that was like 30% of my work ported to a clean VC with mostly all map/car/ped changes. I was admired how much work was put into making it into a more stable build than mine's was. But what I also noticed was that Speccy not only improved my work, but also took liberty to make quite some changes. Basically almost 50% of script in Act I was changed. I agreed with most of it, with some - I didn't. But we reached a compromise. However I realisde that with such changes going on, the developement will take even longer. And these changes definetelly makes it So'V version 4. This whole progress by the team on discord made me find some time and get myself involved again. So here I am. Working with a team on So'V again, being proud of what Speccy, Kalvin, Mega, Braindawg, Blue and others achieved. So what was the point of this story. I think it was mostly written for those who interested in this mod and wants news and updates. So keep in mind this: 1: So'V had a very long way since it's inception with all kinds of ups and downs, and just the fact that it still exists is somewhat miraculous. 2: Don't forget that all of us have their realtime priorities: their studies, their jobs, their families etc. We make So'V on our spare time because of our passion for the game and a wish to create something new and interesting. And we are not getting paid for it. 3: PLAYABLE DEMO RELEASED! DOWNLOAD LINK! THE TRAILER! WARNING! This is a Playable Demo of a WIP mod. This is not a final release! KowalskiGuy 387 Posted April 9 (edited) So uuuh. Dug out my Vice City CD box, installed it, installed the beta. I launch the game, get greeted by two errors saying "Failed to open debug log file "d3d8.log"!", the intro splashes launch as usual, and the whole game crashes before the main menu pops out. Edit. Sorry, my dumb butt haven't thought of changing the compatibility mode and running as admin. Anyway, time to experience.
