You guys should have a mission where the protagonist goes to the store to buy some milk and realizes they're out and he goes home and takes a nap.

 

Nah, instead I made a tiny test mission, it's a small one, not that complicated.

 

The little camera work i did didn't come out as slow as I expected so it's pretty fast.

 

The .zip comes with the main.scm and the gxt you need to see the text I put. just make the text italian or something so you can switch the languages in game.

EDIT: I hope it satisfies you guys at least a tiny bit, the mission isn't nothing big, but I can definitely code something more complicated if you guys want. I just need ideas.

Send me your gmail account via PM so I can add you to the Google Keep note with the mission ideas. They're not overly complex, and you'll probably want to give a shot at the first part of them. It's rather familiar to VC :) (same goes to any team members that want to have a hand at this)

I just tested your small mission and I can definitely say that you're qualified for the job.

 

Here's the plan - we will work on a new script from scratch together with deltaCJ using the information I have received from BEGINit about the story. I've been careful not to disclose mission and map details in the past but BEGINit's lack of activity leaves us with no alternative.

 

Oh and one more thing. Lets not talk about these missions and map changes in the forum thread. I mean I want this mod to be able to surprise people and if they'll know everything.. Well you get the point right? :)

 

By no means is it my intent to break BEGINit's trust by "highjacking" his project and thus we will only use assets that we have created ourselves without any of his contributions. If he does return soon or in 5 years for all we care, all of these assets will still be available for him to make use of as before. The difference is that in the meantime we will work on an alternative script and openly discuss the mod here, in the topic. I want to stress that it wouldn't have had to come to this if BEGINit cared to provide us with some explanation. If he's not back by the release of the first beta with an alternative script, we will reboot the topic.

 

I will discuss peds and characters with Braindawg.

 

So as I mentioned above, I have some valuable insights into the story, characters and use of new locations. We can make use of this to bridge the gaps and put together a coherent story with missions.

 

I want some ideas right now and we can get to work immediately.

 

Flint arrives to Vice City having learned of the death of his brother. What is the establishing cutscene - he arrives by plane / by ship? I think a nice initial cutscene would be simply of a sedan (the Kuruma) pulling up to the Stardust hotel (custom hotel) late at night with stormy/foggy weather. It would cut to flint entering his room and some brief dialogue setting up the first mission. Post your ideas...

From what I strongly *assume, it all leads to a final showdown between Flint and Tommy Vercetti.

Oh God. I actually thought of something like this while writing the cinema missions. Might as well spoil the idea:

 

 

 

I thought about having Flint acquire the Cinema, and the owner eventually tries to hold a promo event: each movie ticket gives you one more chance to win a visit to the Interglobal Studios for a day, so you can visit the studios and watch filming of scenes. However, nor Flint nor the owner have legal access to the cinema, so you'd have to break in along the winners early in the morning.

 

The owner would lock himself with the winners inside each of the set so they could take pictures and such, and you'd have to hold out the gates from guards and such. They'd move to the next gate, and so on. Eventually, however, the winners would notice all the bodies and so on. I wanted to use this opportunity to make a little nod to the Long Night mod. The cinema owner would imply they're filming the scenes to the sequel to Long Night, and these are all stunt doubles. After shoot-out and so on, Tommy would eventually find out about this, and get very pissed at Flint. Flint would have to do some jobs for Tommy as some sort of ''sorry'' for daring to break into his one of his most profitable properties.

Okay, so I'll start working on the introduction, is there any dubbing? Any voice actors?

 

Let's stick to text only. I'm looking to provide you guys with a complete list of story characters from BEGINit and list of all new locations. I guess we'll take it to Google Keep notes for now and start setting up a dedicated chat. Mega, if you could manage that, I'd appreciate it a lot.

 

deltaCJ, I commend you for your motivation but lets not get ahead of ourselves. The missions should be consistent and gradually gain complexity and difficulty. We must start from something simple, such as finding a character, gaining info, or changing clothes. We've gotta brainstorm for ideas and write up a couple of interrelated missions first. Also don't worry, I will be packaging interiors and assets specifically for you to add to your game progressively. This way we can avoid crashes as we go along. I'll also send you Frank's script to remove unused/duplicate objects from the IMG. Please make sure you start with an unmodded copy of the game.

So you're gonna use BEGINit's original characters and events?

The deal with the original scenario is that it has the solid beginning and the solid end, and also the events between, which are lining up in a chain connecting this two points together. This chain is full of unexpected plot twists (strange things at the brother's funeral and further investigations, sudden discoveries, reasons to start a shootout with the rival gang). And this plot twists are the pillars of the script, its what makes it attracting for the player and makes him want for the continuation. You're probably don't know much about this dramatic plot twists, and this are the most important parts of his script. It's like trying to recreate a detective fiction knowing only the characters and the locations. It may work out though, if you are good writer, but it probably will be much different from the original concept. Also he coded some complexed stuff, such as buying assets, gaining respect, drug dealing and other things which are probably difficult to recreate.

 

Outside of the dev team, writing a plot looks something like this - "We have the new cars, new places, interiors, main idea and the new characters. What funny (or gameplay-wise interesing) stuff can possibly happen, if we let them interact between each other on the new locations?". Then the story comes next. There was a pictures with the new motorcycle ramps to jump somewhere, opened windows in a building to get into using the scaffolding, sniping positions in the Sal's hotel. There was a construction site full of red barrels (and also bulldosers) - you surely know what can possibly happen there. There is a Mars Cafe, which has the glass windows and probably many people sitting close to it - it may work out nicely, if on some mission you're gonna explode the gang members, which are having dinner, with all the blood, bodies and glass spreading around in an explosion, or maybe shoot somebody through the window, or mine the car similar to GTA 3 and deliver it close to the windows. In my opinion, it's not important to follow the original story, you can create everything you think is fun and interesting. Maybe even a sidestory - who knows if BEGINit will rise from the dead.

 

Regarding my participation in writing - I'd really wish to, but I don't want to let everyone down while they are waiting for me. I also need to check the opcodes, possible animations and make the screenshots of the ideas using the main.scm or Underground DYOM to pose the characters and pickups to not being unsubstantiated. I wish I had the time. So don't count on me much, but if I'll do it, I'll send my concepts to the team.

 

By the way, you can place the new pickups and packages on the map, since it was BEGINit's job initially

Yet, he could've easily heard the news about Tommy Vercetti's death from anyone that he had contact with in Vice City. It's heavily implied in the Introduction, that Tommy doesn't want anything to do with him, not that he's dead.

I believe that Tommy is still alive by the time of SA and doesn't want anything to do with Ken aswell, I'm just playing along to think of a plausible scenario for Ken to still think Tommy is alive following a narrative that involves Tommy dying.

 

Not unless Tommy won and kills this Flint guy in the final mission.

While I was working on all the characters I actually made a model of what I assume the "final boss" is, and it's not Tommy.

Tommy DOES however appear in the mod if I'm not mistaken.

As a cameo role,perhaps?

Because BEGINIt indicated that the story is not about him,but he is indicated to be present as a powerful person in that time period.

But Speccy's screens tell a different story.

 

If he hadn't disappeared,we would not have been forced to pull our hairs in confusion.

If Tommy DOES appear, please dont make him to be a bad guy like Toni on Frosted Winter which is the protagonist ended up killing the bad guy.

It's not really a matter of Tommy being a bad guy. It's just that Flint is a potential rival to Tommy's businesses around Vice City, and we all know how well Tommy takes such things. Either you work for him, or you're out.

 

I'm not 100% sure yet on the ending, but if it comes down to killing Tommy, then it has to be done in a not cheap way. Flint must outsmart Tommy, in my opinion.

I have no clue what role tommy plays in the mod, I just remember asking beginit a while ago and he confirmed.

I really don't know how the story can be structured if Tommy will be kept alive.
I think he wouldn't be too fond of Flint going around and building an empire across Vice City.
