Since @Frank.s has wanted to help with the script in the past, and he's done some other work for the mod, I'd say he should be the one that the script gets handed over to.

I dunno man, I mean Frank's good at what he does as far as scripting and modelling goes, but his track record of several GTA mods that he's made (coloradoIV, that Vice City prequel with the harwood butcher, every uk map he's tried, Carcer city stories, etc) going unfinished, this mod would be in the exact same situation as it is now if he were put in charge - stagnating.

 

 

 

Frank.s was here not that long ago wasn't he? I swear i saw a post of a week ago

BEGINit is away and whether or not he'd agree to pass his work over to anyone else, we're gonna have to wait for him to reappear on the forums first. I doubt that he will share his script, in any case. That's fine but what bothers me is that we've really been taking forever with this mod. It's time to finish up! My stuff requires 2 weeks at most if I'm told the script is finished.

I just hope that in the event that he doesn't end up releasing the script that all the vehicles and other assets could be released to us because let's be honest, I get the idea of vehicles and locations being mod exclusive, but if the mod isn't going to happen then what reason is there not to release the assets for those who want them in their copies of Vice City?

I would like to bring your attention to this list by BEGINit, which was posted way before the famous Christmas update.

 

As we see, there is a complicated bunch of stuff, not only the story or side missions. This mod is packed with the loads of new content by BEGINit, and that's why we all eagerly waiting for the release.

 

On the other hand (I'm not speaking for the team, of course), he said the missions that he did with the vanilla version of Vice City are working good with the team exclusive modded version. So you can make any mission you like with the more or less lore-friendly plot on your vanilla version of the game, and the guys may include this missions as the something like additional DLC. Hell, if I'd ever see any mission mod for the Vice City!

 

By the way, I accidentally saw a vacation schedule on my work, and there was a guy who takes a big vacation every 4 months. Any of us will take the opportunity to go somewhere far away for 2 months with the loving woman, turn off the phone and just enjoy the life for some time without any stressful thoughts of the hard work and unfinished business. I might be wrong about his case, but at least we all know it's not the end. Waiting is long, but nothing extraordinary actually happened in the last 2 months. The best we can do is to calm down and wait another month or two. And if deltaCJ or someone else can do their own scripts and stuff, it surely wouldn't be the waste of time!

If this is the case, it has been over 2 months that we have received an update. If you don't want people to think your mod is dead, we need to be updated, this whole time we've been playing the waiting game with beginit, we can't do this forever. Also I meant like some script the modelers might have, in a Dropbox or something.

If you know you are going to be taking a break, it is not that hard to post a small post in your own thread. It wouldn't hurt.

I know this mod aint dead.

Relax brother, Rome was not built in a day. This is the time when our SoV Team has to be inspired the most.

I'm waiting for the mod to be released since 2016. So, Chill up bros :). I know you'll do it, for sure.

Seriously, We have been told many times that it would be released faster, and now we are left hanging on a string. Call me impatient but waiting since Sept. 2016, i wouldn't be surprised....

Yeah, yeah, be less impatient, we have been told this for the longest.

Shine O' Vice can't be held much for longer, I don't even care if I code it, I just want it to release.

EDIT: BEGINIt also said that the script was close to being finished in 2013!!!!!!!!!!!

The thing is, people now want an ambiguous step from the developing team, something radical, like releasing all the mod content without the script. But you certainly shouldn't do any rushed decisions if the developer is offline for just 1.5 months. I think 4 months is enough to say "ah, f*ck it" and release the unfinished mod, but not the 1.5 months. It surely took the eternity, but anyway, what can you do? If you try to create something as ambitious as Shine O'Vice scripted stuff, it will take another eternity to complete it. And without the scripted features people will probably download the mod, roam around the city for an hour or two and then forget this mod forever.

 

Right now Shine O'Vice map is a platform for upcoming scripted features. If you want to create the script by yourself, I guess no one will protest. You can do whatever you have in your mind, and porting your stuff on the database version probably won't cause any troubles.

 

It sucks that the mod, which was in development since 2009, is comatosed, but its not the biggest tragedy in our lives. And I'm 100% sure one time we'll visit Shady Acres and Speccy's bar, riding on the Daitojo's Phoenix, one way or another! But the next 2 months is surely unappropriate time for the leaks and rushed decisions.

Frank told me that BEGINIt's script was so broken he had to fix a bunch of sh*t or something iirc. It's like that old Dilbert comic where someone stays late to work on things and then everyone has to work late to fix the things he f*cked up while he was working late.

But anyways, My post was asking one of the team members having a main.scm I could use, but since i don't have the same damn brain as BEGINIt, there is no way in hell I am going to rewrite his whole entire scm.

 

Don't know the names, context, objectives, or even the introduction missions. kthxbye.

Meanwhile, Month 4 of working on the Oil Rig, maybe just about half way done. :^)

Speccy, if Beginit ever comes back, please DO ask him to give the team that damn SCM already. I mean if he wants a complete mod he should share his stuff with the other team members instead of being so conservative.
