Will you abide by the rules of a created game/mode

If someone makes a game mode that requires the co-operation of all players for the game to actually work, would you abide by the rules so the game mode can successfully play out?

The creation tool is said to be quite basic at the start of the game. R* will add to it over time.

If someone makes a game where the parameters are not able to be physically sewn into the game, would you read the game rules (providing we can write some type of description), and stick to them for the sake of the mode?

Here's a basic example:

Say the game starts with 1 guy (the lone wolf) who has to run to cover from the open before the other 15 players start shooting him, would you let the 1 guy reach his 1st destination?

I'm thinking that different countdown timers may not be usable/attachable therefore a manual (each player) time restraint is needed.

Maybe the proximity and area of the game may not allow for spaced out seperation for the lone wolf and the other players therefore the above 'issue' is put in place.

For the game mode to work properly the 15 players need to 'hold their fire' for (a rough number) lets say 10 seconds...

I get a feeling that a lot of people would just shoot the lone wolf straight away to gain a 'win' and it would ruin the game for everyone, however if everyone plays by the rules the game mode could turn out to be very interesting and fun.

Thoughts? And please don't use don't make that type of mode in the 1st place' as it isn't really helpful or useful in this discussion. icon14.gif

And what other realistic 'issues' do you guys reckon we may come across when making a created game mode?

You will be able to set all the spawn areas in your own created game types, so essentially, you could choose to have one guy spawn away from everyone else.

In answer to your question though, i probably won't bother to play too many game modes that aren't supported by actual game mechanics.

At release, the only created game modes will be races, with markers of your choosing, and deatchmatches with parameters and spawns, weapons, and vehicles of your choosing. There won't be any other option initially.

I think some players will probably stick to your rules though if you create your own. It depends if they have anything to gain by cheating, which they probably wouldn't.

There might also already be lone wolf mode made by Rockstar. They had one in TLAD was it? So i can see them adding that again. It was one of the few good modes in IV.

I think of user designed levels in Little Big Planet as a good example of how mission creation can go right or wrong. If there is a way to exploit a game players will find it. Great user created missions will control unwanted variables, while allowing for creativity.

One great thing about GTA has always been how there are several ways to beat a mission. GTAIV was more linear and removed a lot of the innovation allowed to beat a mission. GTAV is bringing the ability back again. I think for user created levels, there will be by far, more poorly designed missions, than exceptional ones. Making it so it is difficult to cheat is something good missions will have.

I'm really looking forward to playing some of the best missions players end up creating. I hope the inspiration of using various movie heists will translate over to some players missions. Similarly to how Little Big Planet levels were based on anything from movies, literature, or even GTA.

Long as they have a good voting system in place the cream will rise to the top. We should be excited for this feature because of how large of a draw GTA has.

I'll try and follow the rules. Provided they aren't crazy complex or change on the fly. Your example sounds more like a gamemode request.

When It comes to unofficial game rules I always go to the "Pistol Only" match.

It gauges your gaming community pretty well Rainbow Six had a few guys new to the game set that broke the rules out of ignorance.

Battlefield 3 had people who just strait out defied the rules, for the sake of being dickbags, and they usually weren't good enough to rank up in the official matches.
