Do i need to have an account on socialclub in order to join/create a crew?

i have around 10 friends atm and we gonna play together

but if everyone needs to register we prob pass that and wont make a crew.

It is not known how crews will work completely yet. Although, you will definately be able to play with friends and do tasks together. The idea of having to form an official crew to be able to work together with other players would be way too restrictive. If you wanted to play GTAO while all your friends is at work, it would get old having to uncrew your friends on Social Club and crew up with people you just met two minutes ago, only an hour later go back to crew up with your friends again on Social Club because everybody you know is ready to play.

If you want to create or join a crew you need to have a social club account. This means any of your friends who want to join the crew will need an account as well. But it only takes a few minutes to create a social club account and link your psn/gamer tag to it. Crews also only take about a minute to create, the only part that can take a while is making the emblem but that is optional.

 

You'll be able to manage your crew and crew members within the game so you won't need to go back on the website after you create your social club account and form your crew. It's defiantly worth the 5 minutes of effort if you actually want a real crew.

 

 

 

On the other hand, you will be easily capable of getting all your friends together in a game and playing together without being members of a crew. So making a crew/all joining the same crew isn't necessary. Crews just serve a great purpose of keeping your friends grouped together, earning xp and wins to boost your crew through the ranks. If you're all planning on playing together in a tight knit group I recommend making a crew or at least all joining the same one to really make all your effort count.

 

Just remember social club registration is free and only takes a few minutes to do. This time includes setting your privacy preferences (restricting/allowing people to see your game stats) and linking your gamer tag/psn to the account. R* also have been giving exclusive items and events to social club members in recent games, so there is no reason not to make an account in my opinion.
