WRONG. I wish people would stop spreading this stupid false information that sprung up when MS got butthurt about a potential halo leak and bullsh*tted to try to persuade people not to spoil the game for others.

You CANNOT get banned or get in trouble for playing a game early that you legally bought. They might check to see if your console isn't flashed, but you cannot, i repeat, CANNOT be banned for playing a game early. The only people who can get in trouble are the ones who sold you it, which is almost impossible to find out unless you flash around the receipt.

Actually, yes you CAN be banned for playing a game online before it's release date. I follow the xbox web site fourms daily and I have read countless threads about people legaly getting a game early, then being console banned for playing before street date. Do some research before stating something as fact. Google is there for a reason.

yeah i'm sure gamestop has a business model which allows every one of their million+ employees to take home an early copy of every game that gets released, for free.  suicidal.gif

Remember that I stated, I heard it out of pure speculation, I'm not saying it's true Dumb-ass.

Why are you calling him a dumbass whenever you're the one that asked the dumbass question?

I remember when IV came out several UPS employees got fired for stealing a copy while on the job. I bet it'll probably happen again.

Google is not a reliable source. Do a Google search and all you read is hearsay and scare tactics. If you purchase a game legally, you cannot be banned for playing it. If the retailer is bound by contract not to sell the game before "street date," they can be sued in civil court for breaching the contract. But there aren't any federal laws prohibiting the sale of merchandise before a street date.

I asked my gamestop guy this very quetion the other day, he said they dont allow that but he did tell me that they will have a TV and PS3 set up with GTA V at that locations midnight release to let people play it and try it out while we wait in line.. so technically a lot of people will be playing this before the 17th....

It may not be illegal to buy a game before it's release date, but Microsoft can consol ban you for playing it early. It's happened before and will happen again.

What you are reading are people who have been banned for having a modded console and feigning ignorance to attempt to get unbanned. If you still disagree, then provide a sauce that isn't some kid on the xbox forums. I want the exact text that states if you play a game that you purchase before the official release that you will not only get banned, but face legal sh*t.

"It may not be illegal to buy a game before it's release date, but Microsoft can consol ban you for playing it early. It's happened before and will happen again. "

NO...no that can't. They need an actual legit reason to ban you. A legit reason is if you are playing the game early on a modded system or you downloaded the game illegally.

I repeat for the last f*cking time, YOU CANNOT GET IN ANY TROUBLE WHATSOEVER BY PLAYING A GAME YOU LEGALLY PURCHASED EARLY, NOT FROM MS, NOT FROM SONY, NOT FROM NINTENDO.

No, they cannot. People who get banned are illegally playing pirated games on a modded machine.

You cannot be banned for playing a game before its release date. The XBOX Live Terms of Service are available for you to read. Stop believing bullsh*t people post on forums. They are most likely pissed off that they got caught with a modded machine.

For the last time, you CAN get banned. Here it is in black and white.

F. Cheating & Tampering

•Do not cheat in a game unless cheats have been deliberately enabled by the developer.

•Do not use unauthorized hardware or modifications to gain an advantage or disrupt the competitive landscape of Xbox Live.

•Do not exploit game vulnerabilities or glitches.

•Do not make unauthorized modifications to your account profile or its contents, to include but not limited to: tenure, Avatar, gamesaves, or Gamerscore.

•Do not intentionally play with someone who is using unauthorized software or methods.

•Do not play any illegitimately obtained software or pirated games.

•Do not take any action to cause degradation of service for Microsoft or other users.

Do not play a game before it has been authorized for play on the service.

Again, that is for illegally downloaded games, modded machines and unauthorized use of the service. If you put the game in the machine, and it works, and you are able to play online, then the game has been authorized to use on the service (service being XBL). There are plenty of games now that do not turn on their multiplayer servers until release date, to prevent people from playing online multiplayer before release date. This is the only course of action they can take to prevent people from playing early. They can't ask Microsoft to ban you for using something that they have made available.

According to your theory there will be a lot of angry game reviewers once they get banned for playing the game early with their legally obtained games. They are the same game we get. No special disc showing Microsoft they are for reviewers. Reviewers get games a few weeks before official release. Has happened forever with every single game. Microsoft/Sony cant tell who has the game from a company legitimately and who got the game from a retailer early.

Either way, GTA ONLINE won't be available until October the 1st so if you were to get the game before the release date then you shouldn't worry about online cause it won't be available.

You honestly think there are a million plus gamestop emloyees?! LOL

Edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GameStop 17,000!!!

>17,000 full time.

I was obviously over exaggerating, but even still, even if there were only 17,000 they still wouldn't be able to afford to give their 17000 employees free copies of every game that comes out weeks before it's even released. people lack common sense.

No, definitely not free.

If the guy who owns the franchise is a cool person and liked their employees, who's to stop him from giving their employees an early copy if they pay for it.

I've never seen it or heard it happen, but it's pretty obvious that this happens in places all over the world.

some dipsh*t 16 yr old employee would take it home and video himself playing it and put it on every social media network known to man. then the owner would likely lose his franchise. the logic you just used would be the same as saying "if the franchise owner was cool and had a bunch of underage kids working in his store then what would be the harm with him buying them all hard liquor and beer as long as the kids paid him for it?"lol the risk is too great and there is no reward for his actions.

I think the only dumb ass here is the one who would ask this question and think that there might be some truth behind it.

Since this is the GameStop thread, I would like to mention that if any GS employees could post pics of the pallets/open boxes of the games arrival that would be cool. Nothing illegal, I just want to see huge stacks of GTA5 ready to go! inlove.gif
