arrowface10
Ok, so if anyone here works at GameStop, don't the employee get to have a Copy for free or steal one for their selves like a week ro two early? I have heard of this countless time that the cashiers just get one copy free to themselves and play the game wayyyy earlier. So it it true? Also I want to know about GTA V arriving Early, so anyone that works at Gamestop please inform us here!
theg
yeah i'm sure gamestop has a business model which allows every one of their million+ employees to take home an early copy of every game that gets released, for free.

SuperCrayon
There is actually some truth to that. A lot of the time, if there are a lot of copies in, you can in fact take a game home for a day or two, not to keep obviously. You shouldn't mock him, he is half right. Chargr
Talk to one of the local game shops, they say they are getting the game on the 13th. Will most likely start selling them on that date. Of course I will pick it up, since I have bought games before they are released (MW2, Black Ops ).

I was obviously over exaggerating, but even still, even if there were only 17,000 they still wouldn't be able to afford to give their 17000 employees free copies of every game that comes out weeks before it's even released. people lack common sense. Gigabomber
Pretty hard crackdowns right now on this type of thing. They'd have your IP immediately if the console was online and if the info leaked in any way, you'd be in serious trouble. copyright infringement enforcement is more important than...well, feeding people, really. You should see what happens if your torrent on a university connection.

No, definitely not free. If the guy who owns the franchise is a cool person and liked their employees, who's to stop him from giving their employees an early copy if they pay for it. I've never seen it or heard it happen, but it's pretty obvious that this happens in places all over the world.

WRONG. I wish people would stop spreading this stupid false information that sprung up when MS got butthurt about a potential halo leak and bullsh*tted to try to persuade people not to spoil the game for others. You CANNOT get banned or get in trouble for playing a game early that you legally bought. They might check to see if your console isn't flashed, but you cannot, i repeat, CANNOT be banned for playing a game early. The only people who can get in trouble are the ones who sold you it, which is almost impossible to find out unless you flash around the receipt. They may MAY get it the day before. I'm making all this up, BTW, as I go.

What you have to understand is that there are unethical managers of individual stores out there... It is not something that GameStop corporate has established as a rule or anything.... Carlover325
It looks like they get a 15% discount off anything in-store (except new systems). They can also check out used games that they have multiple copies of.

They receive the game 1-3 days before release date. Some Gamestop Managers are cool and will allow some employees play the game early in the store(most likely in the back office), others might be even cooler and allow their employees to buy the game when it comes in. Which means... yes, some will get to play the game 1-3 days before release date.

Sure, hidden from everybody except the store's video cameras to prevent such an obvious thing from happening.
