GTA IV

Xbox 360: 6.2GB

PS3: 11.1GB

Best version: Xbox 360

GTA V:

Xbox 360: 15.9GB

PS3: 16.1

Best version: Both two

Simple as that

Not true at all. Just look at my signature if you want to see what really is true.

I still love how you try to dismiss R*'s word with very, very weak circumstantial evidence. I fail to understand why you keep screaming it like it means something.

Ok since you want to take Rockstar's word as a fact. I guess I can take Sony's word as a fact too. Right??

No you can't cause both companies want to make money. If they out right just said the PS3 version will be better. Some may not buy the 360 version, some may buy the PS3 version. Some might buy both just to see which one is better. So with that information you can't take a developers word or any ones. You can ONLY take their history as a fact.

Isn't history a fact?

i love both of them so its a neuteral comment....

i can provide u with OFFICIAL PROOF that no platform is the lead platform this time around and gtav have been developed simultaneously on both consoles so no difference what so ever......and why they showed ps3 version is because people were worried about the ps3 version after gta iv version of ps3......so this was to win back the confidence........if ur signature is true than prove it......sources......official q&a.......or something like that?

Why is the Xbox Version 2-3 Gigs smaller? I mean thats a lot of missing files I guess. Unless they managed to compress them way better than on PS3

the difference is due to different audio encoding tech and compression.....so dont worry, neither of them got less content and it has nothing to do with graphics biggest recent example is skyrim.......

lol. yea. Skyrim was only like 4 Gigs big on the 360. How much was it on PS3?

Did run like sh*t on PS3 from what Ive have read

Edit:

Skyrim has 5.5 on PS3 and 3.8 on Xbox.

X360 - 6.7GB

PS3 - 7.67GB

It's all because audio compression. GTA V has huge audio capacity. Nothing special. X360 still will be better version.

digital foundry skyrim face off

(x360)

Disc Size 3.8GB

Install 3.8GB (optional)

Surround Support Dolby Digital

(Ps3)

Disc Size 10.16GB

Install 4376MB (mandatory)

Surround Support Dolby Digital, DTS, 5.1LPCM, 7.1LPCM

version recommended by them was (360)

so the difference is clearly due to audio tech.............

Nope, Xbox 360 Discs can hold 8,13GB

And why it it smaller? Its called compression...

Xbox 360 disks cannot use the full amount of the DVD. As stated in an earlier post part of the disk is reserved for system information. The latest generation of Xbox game discs (XGD3) can hold 7.8Gb of game content. This is because it writes to the very edge of the disk allowing more space to be available.

No it holds 7.8GB as of 2 year ago because they removed anti-piracy software freeing up 1GB of space.

http://techland.time.com/2011/03/30/new-di...ch-for-blu-ray/

PS3 is bigger because of uncompressed LPCM audio (24 bit 96 KHz audio), where as 360 is stuck with compressed Dolby Digital audio (16 bit 48 KHz audio).

Could this be it? Interesting. I hope so, because I might be playing GTA V on Xbox. I'm alright on some audio compression if it means that I'm not losing visual quality. For some inexplicable reason, I feel I can live more with a compressed audio and say lower quality graphics. With audio, I'll adjust. Besides, the audio will be coming through my TV. TV speakers are generally sh*t but it's something I'm accustomed to while playing video games. I wouldn't solely listen to music through a TV.

Ash_375 is saying something different though, i'm a little confused here, Audio formats are not something i;ve studied.

The only difference was audio quality (44.1Khz ADPCM on PS3 for Radio, 32Khz ADPCM on Xbox 360 for Radio)

Xbox Version defenitly was better. and that comes from an PS3 site. ( just to confrim what most other sites already said)

I tried to search for Audio differences but I havent found anything so I guess there is no difference. At least nothing anyone would notice

There is a difference of course, but yes it would be hard to pick without side by side comparisons, and even then it probably wouldn't be noticeable.

The Xbox 360 version pretty much always looks slightly better, especially a few years ago, PS3 and 360 difference were quite notable, because most games are ported from 360 to PS3, with the exception of a few like L.A Noire. However devs have gotten pretty good at it now and you would hardly notice a difference without side-by-side pictures. Fighting over which is better really is pointless, it's most likely going to be the 360 by the tiniest fraction, but you don't really know until they release.

GTFO.

@iNero: Skyrim was, like most games this gen, made on X360 and ported to PS3.

But that's not the only reason, this article explains why Skyrim didn't run well with the Playstation 3.

I will get GTAV on Xbox 360.

Understanding the possibilities of a slight higher quality on the ps3, I know that the online portion would be significantly better on Xbox Live.

The new servers (300,000) for Xbox One, maybe... just maybe, Rockstar may utilize them to make the connections online amazing!! (XBOX LIVE)

Grand Theft Auto V

Xbox 360 - 15.9GB

PlayStation 3 - 17.2GB

Difference of 1.3GB ONLY

Compared to GTA IV size difference between both consoles it wasn't much compressed, i have the feel who the Xbox 360 version will be better than the PS3 version and Rockstar don't want show it because it will be slight better than PS3 gameplays, it could be only 1% better like Max Payne 3 but the Xbox 360 will be the best version again, gonna pick it for Xbox 360 and i'll install both Discs for the best textures resolution and loading time.

Xbox 360 version will match the PS3 in a worst case scenario. Best case scenario (for 360 owners) it's slightly ahead in frame-rate and visual quality again as every single Rockstar game this generation has been. Actually, ALL Rockstar games are better on Xbox, even going back to the PS2 days. They ended up porting (note - these games were made for the PS2 and PORTED yet they were still better so take that "WAHHH THEY MADE THEM FOR THE 360 THEN PORTED TO PS3!" nonsense excuse out of the equation) all their PS2 GTA games to the original Xbox and not only did they run better but they also had vastly superior graphics.

Xbox 360 GTA V > Playstation 3 GTA V. Just because every single trailer has had "footage from PS3" attached doesn't mean sh*t. It only means that Sony paid Rockstar big $$$$ for advertising exclusivity rights.

Also let's not forget the fact that the Xbox 360 is the only console which will allow disc based full installs of the game. Absolutely no disc spinup during gameplay for faster load times and 0 noise/heat. Win.

Question has been answered with the Skyrim and RDR examples. It's only logical that it applies to V too.

The only difference was audio quality (44.1Khz ADPCM on PS3 for Radio, 32Khz ADPCM on Xbox 360 for Radio)

Basically, I think they got a bit confused with hardware mixing output, that's done on the CONSOLE side, the Xbox 360 can only output a maximum of Dolby Digital 5.1 at 640kbps, or LPCM Stereo 48Khz/16bit (LPCM has higher bitrate, despite being less channel here). Where as the PS3 can mix and output on the fly up to LPCM 7.1 96Khz/24bit, as well as handle other formats such as DTS. But these have NOTHING to do with game size, this is just how the console is arranging and outputting sound.

What I'm talking about is important and actually related to the SOURCE of the audio files themselves. All radio audio on the PS3 version of GTA IV was 44.1Khz ADPCM (equiv to 4bit, bitrate 288kbps), where as on 350 it was 32Khz ADPCM (again, equiv to 4bit, bitrate 256kbps), this IS related to the size as it determines how much space is required to store these files.

Anyway since that post I've actually had a chance to look at GTAV's Radio Audio, and here, even on the PS3, they're using an altered version of MP3 running at 160kbps with 32Khz frequency. So yeah, just like with San Andreas on the PS2, Audio quality has been reduced on the Radio.

And just to confirm, YES, quality is reduced on both consoles compared to GTA IV.

There's a 128kbps drop on the PS3 version and a 96kbps drop on the Xbox 360 version as they both seem to be using these 160kbps versions. Soooo, the interesting thing, what's taking up the extra space if it's no longer the audio? Unless the Xbox 360 has even lower quality audio, which I can't image as that would really be stepping into crappy quality territory.

With more compression on the 360 version, doesn't that mean there will be longer loading times on the 360 as well? My apologies if I'm wrong.

I cant imagine anyone really complaining about sound quality as majority of people are playing on their flatscreens sh*tty speakers.

I mean, people actually think Dre. Beats sound good

if anything the 360 load times may be half a second faster if that, as you can install the entire game

Because I thought that if a file is compressed, it needs to be decompressed to extract the content; if the Xbox 360 version is compressed farther, that means waiting longer for decompression.
