For me, I'll have to wait and see. I'm getting the Xbox 360 version because all my friends are on that platform so I have people to play online with. If the PS3 version has better visuals, I'll buy it when the price goes down.

Edit: Do you guys think the PS3 version could have unused files? IV had left over files on PC and PS3 (I think) but not on the Xbox 360.

Yes, it will have unused files

The Xbox 360 version of GTA 4 compressed 11GB into 6GB, on GTA 5 it compressed 18 into 15.9GB

I genuinely want to know why was the 360 better? (Not denying it just curious how)

I had a 360 and GTA IV on it, and it had pop in. Now I have a PS3 with GTA IV also and tbh it actually had a lil less pop in (The 360 version's disc was scratched, you know the big rings whenever you move a 360, so obviously thats why the pop in was worse), however they both ran pretty much identically.

360 and Ps3 are pretty much the same, the ps3 has slightly better stats when compared side by side, but it was no excuse for that insane price tag (at the start of release). Still dont understand why people have to kid themselves into thinking their consoles better, just buy whichever one has your preferred exclusives and stfu.

Xbox one vs ps4 on the other hand......

What the real numbers fa**ot?

As pointed out numerous times:

Xbox 360: 6.8GB

PS3: 10.4GB

The only difference was audio quality (44.1Khz ADPCM on PS3 for Radio, 32Khz ADPCM on Xbox 360 for Radio) and the BINK video files (TV content, less compressed on the PS3 version).

As for GTA V, we know the PS3 version is 17.2GB (PS3 Digital Download) and we know that the Xbox 360 version can not pass 15.6GB (Disc limit of 2x Dual Layer DVD Discs formatted for Xbox 360 game use), the difference appears to be the same again, kost likely just Radio and Video quality being lower on the Xbox 360.

Only 7.8GB can be used by the game, that extra space is a reserve for the Xbox 360 firmware, which has increased in size since debut. So, nothing needs to be fixed. wink.gif Yes, there's 7.95GB on the disc, but, the game only has access to 7.8GB per disc.

Ok since you want to take Rockstar's word as a fact. I guess I can take Sony's word as a fact too. Right??

No you can't cause both companies want to make money. If they out right just said the PS3 version will be better. Some may not buy the 360 version, some may buy the PS3 version. Some might buy both just to see which one is better. So with that information you can't take a developers word or any ones. You can ONLY take their history as a fact.

Isn't history a fact?

it all comes down to audio compression. compression isnt needed on a blu ray disc.

xbox 360 is worse definitely because it has higher compression. Technically the ps3 version IS going to look/sound better no matter what you say. R* said it will be "hard to differentiate" but it doesn't mean you still can't.

I wouldn't really compare a "PORTED" to developed version.

Doesn't compressing the file size hurt the game? ( I would like to know )

Seeing the PS3 is developed this time around and isn't compression it MAY be the better version.

@ Grovest Most likely it will be 1% better.

The compression don't hurt the game WHEN it's on normal files, when it's in the audio yes, but Rockstar isn't crazy for do it

Depends whats being compressed and how much is being compressed (i.e, a big file being compressed to make a marginally smaller file WILL make a difference).

You can absolutely take their word as a fact. Because there's nothing else to prove that it's not fact.

I've already gone over why the stuff you spew in every thread is circumstantial, so I'm not gonna do it again (Unless you or someone else wants me to, I have the time now since the latest update for Payday2 broke the game).

And if they said that the PS3 version was better, then people would buy the PS3 version, yes. And there'd literally be no loss in sales, or very, very, very, little. Like, not able to notice little. Because if people transfer their pre-orders from Xbox to PS3, they still get the money. And with SONY's deal with R*, that'd be ideal for them.

Oh, and you cannot take History as fact. I hate to quote CoD, but it's true. History is determined by the victor. You never know what really happened at a point unless you were there, or there's evidence (Like, writings of people who were there during the event).

You're probably gonna say that it sounds stupid, but that's the logical way it works.

Xbox 360 disks cannot use the full amount of the DVD. As stated in an earlier post part of the disk is reserved for system information. The latest generation of Xbox game discs (XGD3) can hold 7.8Gb of game content. This is because it writes to the very edge of the disk allowing more space to be available.

How about we just don't assume any bullsh*t, wait for it to come out, and judge then? But really, right now R*'s word is the best thing to go by. It's the best we have. That history argument is false, simply because you have no idea why R* shows the PS3 version all the time.

Could be because of the current marketing deal between R* and Sony. Just like they showed IV on 360 and Microsoft had a DLC deal with R* back then. Hey.. I've got a history argument contradictory to yours going here.

And you have to be quite an idiot to care about any graphical difference between GTA IV on PS3 and 360. If you would show a random person these two versions one after the other he would not know the difference. You have to lay them next to each other and then start going into unnoticeable detail really. You act like these graphical differences are like the graphical differences between Far Cry and Super Mario 64.

You guys do realise that the PS3 has an exclusive bonus soundtrack.

Possibly other little things too.

Haven't seen the PS3 + V bundle with the headset?

They're not including a $180 headset in the bundle...

Xbox was 720p native while PS3 only had 640p native. On both, RDR and GTA4. Plus better Framerate goes to Xbox from what I did read.

Compression. And before Xbox gamers start whining about the game not being as good as ps3.... even if there is a slight difference it will not even be noticeable. Kinda like Ps3 and xbox 360 versions of Bioshock Infinite. Almost the same.

Theoretical Version.

With that the best Version would be the one made for a NASA Supercomputer. Plus 100 Titans SLI

PS3 is bigger because of uncompressed LPCM audio (24 bit 96 KHz audio), where as 360 is stuck with compressed Dolby Digital audio (16 bit 48 KHz audio).

Could this be it? Interesting. I hope so, because I might be playing GTA V on Xbox. I'm alright on some audio compression if it means that I'm not losing visual quality. For some inexplicable reason, I feel I can live more with a compressed audio and say lower quality graphics. With audio, I'll adjust. Besides, the audio will be coming through my TV. TV speakers are generally sh*t but it's something I'm accustomed to while playing video games. I wouldn't solely listen to music through a TV.
